    Have you tested the continuity of this switch? Cuz tapping that switch should stumble the engine. Holding the switch in even a second kills my engine Based on that sentence above , either that switch is bad, your wiring , or your esa .

    The pics I posted above show that in the 85 models the 3.8 , 5.0 and 5.7 all have the same lower unit (14:26) . It looks like the ratio change was done in the upper for the different engines. Or am I missing something ? Does anyone know if that is indeed the case for all years of omc...

    Full disclose- these numbers are from an OEM 1985 manual. Idk if they are perfect for your model, but I would have to imagine they are close.

    Personally , if it were me I wouldnt worry about buying parts quite yet. That lower is probably grenaded to the point of no return. That crack/swelling on the case.... that case may not even be reusable. I would start looking for a good used lower in the same ratio . Slap it on and go boating...
