    the issue is the boat in the picture has a 40hp motor on it according to the facebook listing. I agree with others. 25hp is not enough motor on that boat you may be able to get a much lower pitch prop to get you out of the hole, however that boat needs much more motor than 25hp.

    no to the spray cans. you cant mix hardener. no need on marine rustoleum. go to lowes, buy the color you want. then go to tractor supply and get the hardener. or see your local Ditzler PPG paint store and get enamel and hardener. you still need zinc dicrhomate primer if you broke thru...

    yes, drum brakes do not lock up in reverse. you only need a back-up solenoid with disc brakes.

    With any new to you used boat the first thing to do is all the maintenance the prior owner didn't do. Pull the drive Inspect the gimbal and u-joints Replace the bellows and raw water pump Check the alignment Change the gear lube Change the engine fluids and filters

    Rust-Oleum with majic brand hardener means you can spray your drives for about $50 Ditzler /ppg paint works too, however your looking at about $200 Either requires a good zinc dichromate primer if you sand down to bare aluminum

    those bearings have pitting and spalling. you need new bearings. the teeth on the gears do not look that great either.
