    Condensation/water in oil?

Change oil. Launch boat. Run it hard for an hour minimum. My guess is you are putting around at slow speed in cold temps. You need to get oil temp over 210F to vaporize the condensation

Adding dedicated battery for depth finder

Yes, all the grounds must be tied together. You know you need a different type of charger for the lithium battery than a standard lead acid battery

    Comparison of Boats for Sale

Because if the wood is rotten on an aluminum boat, it's a 2 day fix and maybe $100 Vs a fiberglass boat where it will cost you over $3000 and almost a year

    Comparison of Boats for Sale

expect to replace transom, stringers, flotation foam and floor in both of them so pick which one you want to invest lots of money and time into. FWIW, you would be better off with an aluminum boat with an outboard for your first boat.

    Registration

without paperwork (Bill of Sale, signed title/registration, etc) some states will not register it. In that case you have a yard planter https://tpwd.texas.gov/faq/fishboat/boat/registration_and_titles/

pull your drive, then try take a compression reading. a good motor is 150 psi in all 8 cylinders. a worn motor is 125psi or below shove a garden hose in the hole in the bellhousing for cooling water

I know a few people with VP IPS drives. They like everything except needing deeper water than a traditional drive. If you are going to wakesurf, sure beats planting your face into the props

RE: Issues with Mercruiser 5.0 LX 4 Barrel Carb

every year the maintenance schedule requires the drive to be pulled, the alignment checked and the gimbal bearing and u-joints inspected. doesnt matter if the boat is new or 2 million years old. additionally, since the boat sat is exactly why you need to do all the PMs the prior owner didnt...

    196 351W Flywheel

the pattern is not symetrical, 1 or two bolts are off so the flywheel can only go on one way. additionally there are witness marks on the mounting face of the flywheel from the crank.

RE: Issues with Mercruiser 5.0 LX 4 Barrel Carb

any new to you boat needs to have the raw water pump (whole pump) changed, the u-joints inspected and the gimbal bearing and bellows changed. the engine circulating pump hardly ever goes bad if this is a saltwater boat over 7 years old, time to inspect the exhaust manifolds and elbows as well.
