Interesting! I've heard that fake scallops are cut from skate wings.

1981 Johnson 90 HP overheating, but not all the time

That's not rust. It's residue from the Ballistol I used to prevent rust while the cylinders were open. There were no signs of a head gasket leak when i removed the heads.

1981 Johnson 90 HP overheating, but not all the time

I thought I'd give an update. Still haven't got it in the water. The shower kit came in, and I'm remodeling a bathroom. So goes life.

    Bucket List !

First off, go for it, I love to see old guys doing stuff. I wish I had known at 18 just what a wildlife biologist did and what the schooling was like. At 64, I don't see it, but I wish I had gone to college. I listen to a podcast every week called Wild Turkey Science, makes me realise I missed...

2001 Johnson 90HP Dies on the water

I've never seen it with an outboard but it makes sense that at higher RPMs the fuel consumption is greater and the trash clogs the strainer faster. Then, after a sit, the debris settles out, and we can go again, for a while.

2001 Johnson 90HP Dies on the water

Before I did anything else, I'd check the screen in the fuel pump.

1981 Johnson 90 HP overheating, but not all the time

So, I started it up yesterday afternoon. At idle, it backfired, something it had never done before. When I placed my hand on the exhaust cover and it shocked me, I thought the backfiring was because one of the coil wires was almost off the coil. That was some of it, but it still backfired some...

When you are working on your outboard..............

I came into Crocs kicking and screaming myself. To start with, they were just something I wore to feed Bob the black lab or the laying hens. Now I'm pretty sure they are a permanent part of my life. As a younger man, I thought leather work boots were the only thing a man should wear unless he...

When you are working on your outboard..............

Always put the rubber strap from the transom saver, I don't know, in the field across the road. Or, don't wear Crocs, but I'd do both. I was working in a small space between the back on my boat and my fish cleaning sink, the table with the sink makes a good workbench. I had my new water...

1981 Johnson 90 HP overheating, but not all the time

I screwed up and only ordered 2 water diverters. Somewhere on here I've read what size fuel hose works as a replacement. Can't seem to find it now that I need to know.

    Hey y'all

Slice the breast meat into strips or chunks. Marinate in lime juice and your favorite spice mixture. Use just enough lime juice to coat. Then toss in seasoned flour and or cornmeal and fry. Crockpot the legs and thighs, pick and shred the meat, and use for tacos or eat it on a sandwich like you...

    Hey y'all

Now that my motor has been diagnosed (hopefully), I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm 64 and live in North East North Carolina. Bought my first boat in 1981 or 2, it's been a while. I'm fishing out of a 1981 Ranger 335V. But you might have guessed that. It is not the first boat. That was a 13'...

1981 Johnson 90 HP overheating, but not all the time

I'm just sitting here sipping a cold one and testing my heat sensor. Got 200 again and then this, twice.
