    Not only inboards, many outboards have built-in fuel tanks, so do not overlook the possibility of a leak there. With many enclosed below the floor or under a gunwale, trapped vapors can still be a major issue !

    Bad check valves in the ball, also a dried out rubber ball with cracks in it. If any concerns with the fuel line, I would just replace it with a quality new one and stay away from the Chinese imports....

    I totally agree, did not see any mention of ice and winter fishing..the poster made it sound like they were new at boating and a fear of falling in. I can tell you one thing, if the deck was slippery for any reason, I would not be standing on it !

    Most older boats have small leaks, but not many people put in the maintenance time to fix them, or...they don't fix them correctly. Way to many good quality sealants on the market today to not spend some time fixing those leaks.
