Going from 25 hp to 35 hp

I finally heard back from Smoker Craft. My flat bottom is rated for up to a 35 HP outboard. I am going to look to buy or trade my 25 hp for a 35. I can get up on plane well with 2 guys in the boat, but I am struggling to get on plane with 3. I assume a 35 hp outboard will help with this. Ill...

    Why is my gas orange?

I dumped about 2 gallons of vinegar into the tank. I am going to throw some roofing nails in it evening. Tank didn't have hardly have any sediment in it when I rinsed it out with soap and water and high pressure hose. Will attempt to post video later on.

    Why is my gas orange?

Sounds good! I will clean it again just to make me feel better and keep an eye on my inline filter.

    Why is my gas orange?

That was my first thought too, and probably correct. I found it interesting the outboard runs just fine and turns orange inline filter but seems to be blue in the tank. I wondered if it was some sort of other weird process I'm not familiar with.

    Why is my gas orange?

I bought a nice, clean, older OMC metal gas tank. It had has in it. I cleaned that all out. cleaned the tank, then put fresh mixed 2 stroke in the can. I have an inline filter and the gas is showing up a dark yellow almost orange color in the tank. Inline filter screen is clear. I pumped out the...

recommendations for a little starting battery or should I run long wires?

I will go to the small LED style once these lights are worn out. They were brand new installed last year. I am also going to find a solar panel.

recommendations for a little starting battery or should I run long wires?

I have decided to do two things... 1. Get a lawn mower battery for my electric start motor. Light and easy to remove. I swap my 2 motors often and the other is rope start only. There is no reason to have battery in the boat when I'm not using the ES. 1. I am going to wire the lights to the...

recommendations for a little starting battery or should I run long wires?

I like this! I can run a long cable from the front to my motor. Ill have to come up with a good alternative for my lights, but that can be solved by rewiring or running wire back to the front of the boat.

recommendations for a little starting battery or should I run long wires?

recommendations for a little starting battery or should I run long wires?

I just successfully installed electric start on my 1969 Sportster. I'm thrilled. I am looking to get a little battery to start the motor. I already have a 12 volt deep cell battery in the front of the boat that goes to my trolley motor. I am thinking like a motor cycle or lawn mower battery...

Powerdrive Advanced GPS Upgrade kit Remote recommendation

I am about to order an upgrade for my Minn Kota powerdrive trolley motor. I am in love with this thing. This is my first bow mount trolley motor ever. I feel like I've been missing out for a good 10+ years of fishing with a transom mount one. I am trying to decide which remote to get. I have 3...

    Recoil handle replacement

Great idea! Unfortunately mine is currently being used for its original purpose, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

    Recoil handle replacement

I’d like to get a few recoil handle replacements. I’ve got a 25 hp 1969, and a 1958 3 hp both could use new handles. Does anyone have a favorite? I feel like this is a part I can go outside oem and be ok.

    E10RNCS running/starting issues

In order to get that lower unit back together properly you'll want to put the motor in forward and the lower in reverse (or vice verse I cant remember). This will allow you you properly screw the throttle linkage back together. That red thing on the recoil can be held back with zip ties. It...

1962 Evinrude 5.5 fisherman bogs stalls when I put the hood on.

100% agreed. Wouldn’t by my choice repair either. I’ve just see it done several times especially on those 9.5s.

    Process for changing boat trailers?

Funny you posted this! Friend of mine fish the white river (in Indiana) too often and its a fairly shallow river. I had to drive my CRV all the way in the river in order to launch it the other day. I feel your struggles. I just got a new trailer (my whole Trailer was rusted out bad), and it...

1962 Evinrude 5.5 fisherman bogs stalls when I put the hood on.

99% chance its an exhaust leak. You'll either want to replace the gasket, run motor with cowling off or drill holes in cowling to allow more air to come in (drilling holes not my choice).

Cutting down trolley motor, how to determine proper length?

I found a good article describing exactly this. Please disregard.

Cutting down trolley motor, how to determine proper length?

I have a Minn Kota Power drive trolley motor that has been awesome! I love it. The one problem I've got is that I fish a really shallow river and the shaft for the trolley motor is way too long. I can run it shallow but then it sticks up in the air like 2 and a half feet. It makes casting off...
