I have to share my excitement

2 years is fine for bellows. Sounds like you're good to go after that service. 👍 Keeping it in garage and dry when not un use is a very smart plan and about the best one thing you can do for any boat. As you probably know most of the damage ito our boats is done while waiting in the rain, bird...

    Scissors-like abnormal noise from 5.7

If not your ignition, an air leak can be extremely stealthy. A past mysterious repeating stall out experience on my old boat was due to an air leak. Never leaked a drop of gas nor could you smell a whiff of it. Took tanks out for inspection and to rebed them, replaced All lines, All hose clamps...

    1966 Johnson 60hp won’t fully engage reverse.

If you have excessive bearing play in lower unit that movement could help jiggle the clutch dogs loose possibly.🤔 Is this happening in the water or on muffs? When in water the prop will hold it pretty steady fore or aft if in FWD or REV so it could potentially not happen in water but only...

    Scissors-like abnormal noise from 5.7

Did you try wiggling key to see if it effects the buzzer? If it does that thing is toast and just waiting to leave you stranded! I had a terribly intermittent ignition key switch once. It gas lighted me into thinking all kinds of other stuff was wrong. 😵‍💫 Replaced the dumb switch and it was...

    Scissors-like abnormal noise from 5.7

Good points! There are definitely a whole lot of simple things to rule out 1st like Lou said. Verify healthy blue ignition sparks all around. It is definitely very common to have crap in your fuel system. No matter how careful you are it just gets funked up over time. Doesnt help that gas...

Some progress: Battery Compartment 🔋 🔋 🔋 Cabin 750 GPH forward pump location, directly below batteries in v beth. New marine cables made. Locking batts in place with teak blocks. This keeps them squarely in place and keeps them off the raised aluminum edges. Thats about 3000 amps right...

Wow, you got yourself a tremendous deal! Nice when things work out sometimes isn't it? She's a gem, previous owners seem to have taken good care of her. Looks like you have a fun boat ready to go! And a practically brand spanking new trailer too? You got seriously hooked up.🤘 Although its...

X2 on the stethoscope, really is the only way to figure it out sometimes. Can use a mechanic grade shade tree stick against the ol ear lobe in a pinch too! Doesn't always work but often times you suddenly hear it clear as day in one specific area. Don't forget to give alt a listen, notorious...

    1978 Islander 22 I/O

Looking great, keep cranking away on her and you're going to have an amazing end result here. I like that as you go you keep adding the flotation pieces into those otherwise useless voids. It all adds up to a much safer boat. Prob way less space for fumes or humid air below deck in addition to...

Thanks! And I think you're right, it is pretty toasty in there without those big windows wide open and a good breeaze. I want to do tint and also restore the window screens on the sides for sure. I'll look into that ceramic tint, thanks for the tip! I actually have never installed it myself and...

Thats too bad the foam doesnt hold up well. Durability is definitely important in a fishing boat that really gets used. Removable carpet sounds like a great idea. Snap on for a leaisurely pleasure cruise, lose it for blood and guts fishing. Sounds perfect 👌

    PSA for inboard gas owners.....

Weird how the handhelds are so nice and cheap yet the simplest install it yourself mounted setups start at an exponentially higher price I noticed. I'll probably just do the handheld for now. Do like the idea of an integral sensor with helm console indicator though.. Remember seeing actual...

Railing buttress. Rivets are so quick, compact, light, and convenient. Get yourself an air riveter. Teak plank for Merc morse control clamped. The angle mount I think is mahogany I cut and varnished. Multi timbered conglomorate of a craft for sure. Getting tucked in for long winter.
