We're looking to get a new oil filter wrench - suggestions on what/where to get? 1998 Wellcraft 240 SE, 25 ft small cruiser. GM 350 ci, carb'd (VP outdrive)

most fuel efficient, or cheapest? besides being towed (fuel efficient, but not cheap ultimately), drifting down the River (it's technically an estuary) is pretty fuel efficient, but still not really cheap if it's your boat

Thanks guys. Makes sense. Now I just gotta talk my primary mechanic (son) into it - he and I do all that stuff, but he usually wants to wait til we take it out of storage and prep it for the next season. I'm working on getting him to do the bull work these days. Maybe I should let him use...

My small I/O cruiser (24 ft Wellcraft 240 SE with carb'd 350 engine and VP SX-M outdrive) is stored over the winter by my marina. We pull it, put in the the trailer, winterize it, then leave it on the trailer at the marina. They take it from there. So, the outdrive gets left in the up...

It was a beautiful weekend in the Adirondacks. A bit sore from water skiing, not a bad reminder

This is my cockpit cover, doesn't "seal" around cover poles, but doesn't really need to. When it rains, a little gets onto the cockpit floor, but that's what scuppers and bilge pump are for. Actually, I don't ever notice any more water in the bilge after a rain if the cockpit cover is on

Had the boys do some jet-powered hydraulic dredging for the ski boat's dockage

I saw this thread come up, and had to look. Not that this pic will help, but should make you feel like you have an easier task at hand. My son's friend spent years on this '59.

My anchor now sits at the bottom of Lake Erie. I was a good Danforth with about 4 ft of chain and about 200 ft of 3/8" anchor liine. For use on a 1998 Wellcraft 240 SE, what do you suggest as a replacement and from where? We usually are on Upper Niagara River ans western basin of Lake Erie...

My son's friend is great with old boats, cars, etc. There are kids out there that enjoy the old-school. Thought you might enjoy his latest endeavor, he put it in the water for the first time this weekend - glad I was there (finally) to enjoy it!

Good friend of mine looking at this boat http://www.boattrader.com/listing/19...sport-99434936 what do you think of it? Anything specific we should look for?

It's good through 2018, but the sticker on one side is completely faded - anyone know what, if anything I have to do. I passed a LEO last night expecting to get stopped, but wasn't. So it's got me thinking, and wonder what the good folks here think. What's the law say? What do you think I...

These are for the ends of the two cockpit cover support poles

The bottom and top (with snap rubber end caps have seen better days. Anybody know where I can buy new ones?

I have been told that one of my drive trim cylinders was "puking milky oil", must be replaced, cannot be rebuilt, and a new one is $589. The drive is on a 1998 small cruiser, and is the original drive as far as I know. Does this sound right?

Great thread. Nice looking salad r n j. I was thinking about this thread last evening while working in our small front garden. Unfortunately, got too dark for pics - but my question is this... What is your definition of a weed? Mine is different than the Admirals - I tend to leave decent...

Thanks for the input on the batteries. I thought the Interstate was a "typical" cranking battery, but it is labeled "Deep Cycle Marine/RV SRM-24, 550 CCA, 690 MCA, reserve capacity140 (it purchased in last 2 or 3 years). I think I should keep that one, and buy 1 new one. Any recommendations...

Good to hear the levels are up. This photo of the narrows in Oct 2016 - does it still look like that?

Yep, we haven't had nearly enough snow this winter, it was 15 the other night, and we got to catch up on missed shoveling. We got about a foot out of this one - but too little too late

In my 1998 Wellcraft 240SE. It's got a 5.7, pretty minor electronics, no genny, on-board charger, shore-power. There are 2 batteries. One fairly new Interstate cranking flooded-cell, one older "marine multi-purpose". I will be replacing the older battery and keeping the Interstate. Should I...
