Certain newer fuel injection ignition systems have a minimum CCA/MCA spec. My 2017 6.2L Mercruiser spec is 800CCA. My engine also has a dedicated power line form the ignition/fuel injection system straight to the battery to reduce voltage drops. I use AGM batteries that meet this spec. Many so...

In the old days when you used steel cables instead of straps, the winch cable could be anywhere on the spool which is way more than what your winch post is offset by. They still loaded straight.

You could have ordered a New Titan Dico surge unit and installed it on your trailer and completely working by now. And yes...replace the wheel cylinders.
