Late 70's to Late 80's - Worth shopping for?

I would say probably. That’s a major risk and liability for them should you not take it

    3.0L differences

I noticed while doing some maintenance that my new boats 3.0L has a fairly decent oil leak from the rear main, and I noticed doing plugs that #4 was severely oil fouled. I have a 1988 3.0L that is solid and mint running however my wife now wants to fix the boat that it’s in. It would be a direct...

Late 70's to Late 80's - Worth shopping for?

Stuff is available and currently not expensive. The OEM stuff will soon fade away though as BRP quit making Evinrude stuff. They will eventually no longer be interested in making the parts. Sierra and others should stay around for the foreseeable future

Looking for my first ski boat

Probably not the best as a dedicated ski boat but that type of boat for sure has people skiing behind them every summer

Looking for my first ski boat

$16k should buy a decent mid 2000’s to early teens bowrider but it’s going to be hard to find one with more than a 4.3L

1982 Starcraft Questar 191 (Volvo Penta AQ140) - Battery voltage drops to 8V when starting, cables get hot

Grounds and/ or a faulty starter will cause that issue as well as a bad battery. Take everything apart and clean up all your terminal connections

    Is it capable of planing?

Yes it should have more than enough

    470 to 120 swap

If the donor boat is older than mid 70s the transom cutout is slightly smaller. But very doable if you have 2 complete boats

    Artificial Intelligence

If Johnny 5 was connected to Google. That is what basic AI like chatGPT is.. I use it periodically. It’s only as good as the information it finds.

West Marine files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

I bought the shift cables for my little boat from WM in 2021. Other than that, I don’t know when or if I actually walked in that store before that day. They simply had what I needed in stock

    2003 Larson SEI 180 90HP OUTBOARD

By 2003 a Larson should be wood free on a small runabout like that

Eagle Claw Starfire X trolling combo’s. Any good ( enough )?

Found 2 cheap Shakespeare rods in storage that I bought a few years ago when I wanted to troll off my 14’ and never did. I cannot find the reels for them ( which I think were ATS line counters ) are vintage Penn peer 209 level winds a good option? I can get a couple pretty cheap. Im thinking...

    Trolling Walleye. Any insight?

Definitely will try crawler harnesses. I for sure want to catch some as I’ve never actually had Walleye

    Trolling Walleye. Any insight?

That is the way I’d like it to work. Only caveat is my house has a tiny property and the driveway is too short to fit my truck and trailer connected. I keep the boat down the road in the next town at a storage facility which eats into the time. My dad lives 5 miles from the boat ramp so it’s...

    Trolling Walleye. Any insight?

as I’ve stated in other threads I normally troll for lake trout in the finger lakes of NY ( Cayuga mostly ) but the lake is 2 hours from my house so it takes a full weekend to go out. Friends of mine tell me that i pretty much will catch walleye in Oneida lake no matter where I am on the lake...

    Filling Tractor Tires with Methanol

Yup. It does foam up quite a bit. There are a couple ways to see where the liquid is sitting so you get the 75% fill.. the easiest is on a hot day it might condensate and show you as you fill it with cold liquid. And second is simply a hammer to tap. Neither is an exact science I forget if...

    Filling Tractor Tires with Methanol

Fun stuff. Tractor/Ag tires used to be part of my day job. I still help my father in law with his tractor tires when he needs it. I filled one of his last year after a valve got knocked off. I didn’t build the tube going back from the pump to let the air out. I just use the air bleed on the...

    Fuel water separator install

Nope. The water separator is preventive maintenance. I’ve actually just finished mowing with the ‘recovered’ gas that was contaminated in the kicker tank. I ended up with about 3 out of the 4 or 5 gallons in it after letting it separate and pumping it off

    Fuel water separator install

Everyone keep in mind. Water entered my kicker tank while it was strapped to the transom while on the trailer the night before it was going back out. As most of those tanks do, the caps don’t seal great. My 2 main tanks do not have water issues… but I’m eliminating the kicker tank and adding the...

    Fuel water separator install

Well yeah oil/ petroleum floats. But if the separator fills up, drain it. Re prime it and keep going… weird thing about oil and water is it doesn’t mix but it can be held together in suspension if it’s shaken or mixed. Hence water seperator
