To me, it sounds like the engine was removed at some point. They plug the lines with bolts when they pull motors. Maybe those just didn't get hooked back up.

Not so much for us repair guys. An easy initial assembly doesn't mean easy access later.

Something like this is what I'm talking about.

Like alldodge said, the tank was set in place, then the hull set on top of it. That also goes for pretty much everything else. The hardware is installed while the cap and hull are apart.

For the leak, really the only way to find it is to fill it with water and look for leaks.

Pour fom. The extruded poly won't give any structural support because it isn't bonded to anything and won't properly fill the cavity. Epoxy wood. It needs to be done on both sides and all edges anyway. Other things depend on how your boat is set up. Like if your gas tank sits in the center...

I don't see why the batteries would affect balance that much. You weigh more than those, and your weight is all the way to one side while driving. If I understand you correctly, the tubs you're talking about are like boxes glassed to the sides? Those are just full of flotation foam. You're...

Sorry I'm late, I've been sick since Friday and am just starting to feel alive again. Something like this. https://www.metalsdepot.com/aluminum-products/aluminum-flat-bar?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA5Ka9BhB5EiwA1ZVtvIJIrp8OuGkeXJ4SAeHvQj83OIgpXViD_4p4B-S66z8CYwxerIoNuhoCS9UQAvD_BwE You should...

Ok, if it's just a tiny little 5hp like jimmbo said, that's just overkill. You could just get some flat stock to act as one big washer and call it a day. The reason I was asking about the mount though. If it's a bolt through, you would have to drill through and seal between the plate and...

Screw a sheet of aluminum or diamond plate on the bottom of the floor where you will have the pedestal seats. That's what every aluminum boat I've done a floor in has. I think it's too keep the seats from pulling out of the wood as it eventually rots.

Does your motor clamp on or bolt through?

Good job 👍 Honestly though, they still have the hardest part left. Don't expect to have very much taken off of the estimate.

Did you check that the inside was clear? Between the inside of the splashwell and transom, and up to each corner cal all be resin puttied together.

I found a couple old pictures that show what I mean with the straps.

Take a sawzall blade, or knife, something thin and long, and slide around between the splashwell and transom. They could have put a bunch of putty on and mashed the cap into it where you can't see. If you can only lift two points at a time, maybe about half way forward of the walkway for the...

Also, I would really recommend a long strap under the dash/walkway. That's a lot of weight to be unsupported.

I can think of three things. 1. It could just be that as you're lifting, the cap is bowing, making the front and rear clamp onto the hull. It might just take some prying while you're lifting to pop it loose. 2. Those kinds of splash wells are often attached to the transom with thickened resin...

First, take the straps off of the hand rails. They might just rip out. When we take caps off, we either run a long strap under the cap from side to side, or place a board in some openings and lift from there with a strap. Basically, you want to lift from under the fiberglass, in places where...

Well I think it's safe to say you have the tools and ability. I think you should be fine doing everything but the glass. That's a lot of glass to be doing all at once, and it's not very forgiving. Once you catalyze the resin, you're there until you're done, and it doesn't care if you're ready...

Sorry I haven't been chiming in here, the site has been down for me all day for some reason. I don't mean to be a buzzkill, but I guarantee that if you take this on yourself it won't be ready by spring. If, for some reason, you absolutely have to have a boat by spring, look for another one in...
