Periodically the subject comes up and author of the post gets numerous answers from the following herein. I was watching a movie the other day and it was taken in the waters around Greece. The boat was stopping and anchoring and the camera remained on the Capstan and the anchor line paying...

I decided to plug this in here as there is a stripped head bolt posting below and I have something to say about the subject. In my 50+ years of boating and personal mechanicing, I have had to deal with numerous frozen bolts on equipment of sorts including HD highway equipment, farm, and marine...

The following is the way I see it. I was on this earth before Pearl Harbor. Boating has been part of my entire life. Looking back at the fiberglass industry in particular, I have a few comments concerning the newly born industry of the time. None of the super tech gyzmos of today were...

When one responds to a thread it used to be that you could follow up on the item because you had a marker in the listings identifying such. Now, there is nothing and the "Mark Channels Read" window at the top of the page is absolutely useless......nothing happens. So what you have to do is to...

Are you going to get to play with your toys today? When my 4 kids were growing up, Sunday afternoons were the family's day together. We had many a memorable time over the years. Hope you do too. Mark

I mean I don't see any ads at the top of the page for us to buy things and our buying things is how you pay the bills and this stuff has been in a mess for a couple of weeks now and you still have bills to pay? And we get frustrated trying to make this thing work and just bale out and go off to...

Half a dozen or so years ago I bought a pair of Shield brand radials, like 205/75-14 for my boat trailer and Shield brand heavy duty 700-15 8 ply bias tires for my utility trailer. I have a stock trailer in need of tires. My trailers sit a lot and plasticizer loss, aka rubber splitting is a...

I keep harping on this and it gets little attention. Personally I don't care that it doesn't. I know where to run mine and if you choose otherwise it's your equipment, your boat, your outing. I live in N. Texas and several weeks ago we had a bad ice storm. Ice on the trees was something like...

Every time I pass the OMC and Merc forums I notice that OMC has twice the viewers as does Merc. Does that mean that there are twice as many OMC engines out there or there are twice as many problems with what's out there? Just curious. I was an OMC guy back through the mid '70's. Had good...

Was surfing the Old Merc. site the last couple of days and was curious about the dock buster. Pulled up an old thread on here back in 2011 and in one of the replies it mentioned that the engine was direct drive; no overrun clutch. Question is how did they get away with that? With direct drive...

Props shown. Speed went from 50 @ 5700 with the 24 XP down to 40 with the 21P @ 5800 and 47.5 with the 21P at 6600. So let's extrapolate the 47.5 at 6600 up to 50 which would academically relate to 6600/47.5/50 = 6947 rpm. So I have a 3" pitch delta and a 10 mph speed change at roughly the...

I was out with my sweetie today and observed a couple of things. Some guys on here talk about engine torque falling off when you get out of the recommended rpm range. I didn't know one way or the other. So, today I disproved the myth. I have this thread and a similar related thread in the...

Ok. My turn to ask questions. Thinking about redoing my engine fuel lines beins it is an '02 model; or at least having the parts on hand to fix it when it breaks. Have been all over www and can't find two things: Zip ties or what ever you call them that lock the hoses in place (use specific...

Mine was. I tried several local professional welders and couldn't get any bites. I have a farm so I have several types of welders. I tried gas and MIG. Both were a total disappointment. Problem was heat sinking and thickness of the eye cooled off the joint before you could make it, even if...

It appears that someone has come to their senses and stopped the obnoxious popups. Made the difference between me moving on (yeah big loss for you) and staying. I can't believe the advertising department is/was so narrow minded as to aggravate the living XXXXX out of you with a popup in your...

Mercury V6 engine cooling hose routing has been on the Merc forum a few times recently and I have a puzzling question that has intrigued me for many years and seems like time to ask about it. My son had a '96 as I recall Merc 150, V6 2 liter. It had thermostats at the top of each bank of...

What's the opening temperature of the thermostat on the 115 e tech Evinrude? I was watching a new episode of Swamp People tonight and they were running their new one. The boat's occupants were in short sleeves, they were running at or estimated close to WOT (boat was making a lot of white...

I was thinking about the guy who got his boat shot up in the melee catching the second brother. I read where "America" is going to buy him another. Some gal was sending a $25 to his home for her contribution. Well that's a great idea but implementation of such a thing would take some planning...

I ran across this info today and it covers a lot of info that we have to keep relaying to newcomers. What about a Sticky so that we can just refer the newbie to it and they can get the word from the horses mouth. Some points of interest include where the engine rpms matter in selecting the...

Saw the first of the new season shows the other night. Ole Troy was his finest as usual. Waiting for him to get some holes in his "lucky" tee shirt. The hour before the new season show, the Texans, who were to go back home the next day to enter the Texas season, had a contest with Troy and...
