Believe it or not steel is porous.-----Water has a way of getting in there.----Corrosion is under the surface and you can not see it.----I say those bearing will lead to a ---" dynamic halt " ---at some time.----Maybe not in 1 hr but you risk it.

Those bearings are ----SCRAP-----Just some proof that some folks know very little about fine machinery and how oil " works " in bearings.

Opinions vary on this topic.----I would simply pick up a bad Johnson / Evinrude 115 HP for say $200 or so.----Rebuild that.-----In my wildest dreams I would not spend $5400 on that motor.----Well , maybe $1500 to replace 1 piston with O/S one !!

Rusty bearings is not a good thing.------No potions will fix that.

A 1993 is NOT an E-tec motor.

Post a few more from further away.-----Or remove flywheel and post picture of the magneto / points, condenser.

He states that it has a new carburetor.----Is this a new " aquasition " and what motor did you have on the boat before this one?----Was the new carburetor added to upgrade power on the motor ?

Once again we need to state it.------The water pump must be well submerged in a test bucket.----Raise water level by about 12" or so.

Throw that compression tester away and get a good one.----Should read about 120 + PSI on a good motor.

Fact----The 20 was only marketed in Canada.----They are shy about listing it for parts.-----I believe post #2 has the information to act on /

A 20 HP marketed in Canada ?----Steps for you to take.-----I assume it has the gearcase that splits.-----If so find the seal kit # for say a 1992 model 28 HP.----It lists the contents and part numbers.-----Now go to the 83 model 25 HP and compare part numbers.----Order the 28 HP kit if it all...

Model # required.-----There are 2 different 115 HP motors in 1996 model year.----If it is a crossflow you need to charge battery.----Have battery load tested.-----Inspect starter motor and do ohm test on armature.

No need for a ring compressor.----I just use my finger nails or small screwdriver.----Never an issue that way.

Is it a gated marina.-----Well lit at night.----30 years ago I never locked my boats.-----Not sure about that today.
