Agreed----Huge difference in acceleration.-----I normally ran the boat with 21" stainless.----A 1970 115 Evinrude on a 16' Kennedy.

Willing to bet that those 2 starters are assembled wrong.-----Bottom cap not lined up with the notch.

To tear one of these down , I believe you first need to remove the lower unit.----Then work up from there.-----A lot of work.

Did a test myself,----Some years ago , same day , same boat , 3 different props.----19" , 21 " and 23" pitch.-----Boat speed was the same at 54 MPH.----Rpm of engine changed.-----Fact----For most folks , power torgue , RPM and boat speed are a mystery.

Post #1 says that diaphragm was checked.

Folks sometimes grease everything that moves.------On recoil starters some parts are not to be greased.

Wild %$^ guess.

The decals were used in 1987 model year.----I am not sure how a drain screw is used to determine a model year.

Changing the gear sets would be expensive if it could be done !!

Correction----The 87 factory brochure shows those decals on commercial motors.

Try----kings propeller repair-----Good used fresh water unit may be available.----Ontario , Canada.

The 1991 JOHNSON factory brochure shows the commercial models with those decals.

You will need a manual.-----And that is a job that requires a LOT of work.

I do not see a picture of a store.-----I do not see an address of a store / warehouse.-----See if they will ship you a product.------Then submit payment after you hear it run on your boat.

Find------ twin cities outboard parts.------Looks like they have one at $64.99----Nice picture to compare yours to.

Agreed----I have a couple of Mercury CDI switch boxes ( 9.8 HP ) that need new wires.----Spent some time digging out the sealing goop.------It can be done if you are desperate and work for 99 cents / hr.

These motors in good condition start right up.----I would be looking for 120 PSI.------These motors are easy to trouble shoot.----I think I will step aside now.
