Need aluminum gas tank fitting recommendations

I would recommend a direct fill tank over a remote fill if it is feasible. Fewer parts make it more economical and easier to maintain. Probably not feasible because it becomes easy to trap fumes in the bottom of the boat even though boats with portable tanks don’t seem to have problems. I...

    Been a little cold.

It’s been a little too warm the last couple of days but I got up in the middle of the night to turn on the furnace again last night. Was planning a trip to the dock this morning to pull 14 dipsticks and look at 2 maintenance issues (low power and a steering leak) but I am holding off until after...

    Been a little cold.

Grill is on now. Had to run the AC the last 2 days. It was 26 a few days ago. It burned the leaves off the early trees. 90 today.

Is this 2k worth of trailer?

Probably not bad. I paid $1500 - $1600 through a local G3 dealer for a new trailer to haul my 17.5’ G3 10-12 years ago. The other local G3 dealer wanted $2500 for the same trailer. No title or registration on small trailers here.

    Been a little cold.

Got lucky. Hose reel not broke. 60 pound bag of concrete poured at noon today is already hard. The last batch looks like I just poured a bag on the ground without mixing in the water.

    Been a little cold.

I mixed a 60 pound of concrete about 2 weeks ago. It was upper 70s. I don’t know why but it never dried out. It rained 4 days after pouring and the piece cracked and broke. A few days later I cleaned it up and made new forms. While I was at it I crushed and scattered the wet chunks which now...

DeWalt corded drill DW106 Type-2 keyless chuck, bits slipping out?

Cordless is handy. I have 2 with of them with 20 volt batteries I use all the time but it is the corded drill I grab when I am cutting holes in steel.

    Nobody fishing?

When I retired I thought I would fish all the time. I even live near a large lake with several smaller options nearby. I fished most weekends when I was working.

DeWalt corded drill DW106 Type-2 keyless chuck, bits slipping out?

I know what you mean. I grab mine anytime I have serious drilling to do and I have a place to plug it in.

Get a deal once in a while

I don’t have much use for facebook myself but marketplace has been very good for getting rid of all kinds of stuff. I bought a burner phone so I wouldn’t have to give out my regular number but found out there isn’t any need as long as I use marketplace.

DeWalt corded drill DW106 Type-2 keyless chuck, bits slipping out?

I had to change out a keyless chuck on a brand new Dewalt for that reason several years ago. It simply would not hold a bit. Tightened it as tight as I could. Bit would feel tight but come loose almost instantly when in use. Dewalt sent me a replacement chuck for free. I opted for a keyed chuck...

If I could get by without a full size pickup I would probably just drive the Willys CJs around full time.

    When boating, always ___________________

Some of the I/Os I have seen have a toggle switch. The lanyard will flip the switch to off if used otherwise it causes problems because people bump the switch and accidentally strand themselves. All of the outboards I have dealt with do one of 2 things without the lanyard. They either crank...

One fuel line to two engines

I have never really been around kicker motors. I am guessing the one in this case is big enough to have power tilt/trim hence the desire for switches. What I have seen were tiller control and manually tilted so having a manual selector wouldn’t matter. Hanging the primer bulbs vertically is a...

One fuel line to two engines

DANG! Even fuel valves for aircraft are not that high. Here I thought there is nothing more expensive than aviation.

One fuel line to two engines

I always wondered why the I/Os in the fleet didn’t have a primer bulb. They sure come in helpful when a boat gets run out of fuel. An on/off valve on each line maybe? But that brings us back to switching.
