Absolutely right but if covered with carpet as most are they will be fine. I typically overtighten the nuts which draws the head well below the surface. Shoukd have mentioned that, thanks...
If the motor has not run in a while, you may have some stuck rings, try flushing cylinders with ring free and see if it helps/ hurts your compression numbers..
I always used carriage bolts with the round head then nuts and washers on the bottom. Carpet keeps the heads away from your hull, had way to many lag bolts pull out or fall out but never lost a carriage bolt in my 50 plus years of towing.
Been using E 10 since it came out, there were many warnings about having alchol compliant hoses and gaskets and give old fuel systems a thorough cleaning before switching to E10 fuels. If those warningS were followed you wont have any issues !! My neighbor has numerous old cars from the...

You must ve sure your equipment is set up to run E fuel! On my old marine engines, I thoroughly cleaned the system, changed gaskets and hoses to be E rated and never had an issue. When being stored for more than a couple months I add stabilizer, never an issue... Been using E fuel since it...
When I upgrade my TM batteries to lifepo4 I will use dedicated chargers to keep them full. No way would I use an alternator to charge one. My starting battery will remain an agm until alternator issues on lipos are fixed for sure. These lipo type batteries are designed for long drains with...
Without knowing your budget limits, I can only offer my experiences over 60 years of boat ownership. The boats I have owned and sold over the years have values under 10K, so if you shopping for higher values then things might be different. Whether dealer or private owner one of the first...
Get a factory service manual and follow the recomendations. The factory knows what is best for there motors. First thing I would do is replace the water pump just to be sure. Check all the fuel hoses outside and under the cowl. Check lower unit for any signs if leaks, drain and refill then...
