Depends on what shape the engine and outdrive are in. I can't tell without seeing it or some photos.

Mine is small block 350 Chevy. OMC 800 drive. In California also, San Diego area. Are you wanting to rebuild the boat and engine?

I don't know who or why they locked my post on my Cuddy 23 foot Beachcraft. Scandalous.

I don't see a model number listed. Is it there but unable to read? You have SelectTrim like I do.

Where is this boat located? How much did you buy it for? Does it have an OMC outdrive and engine? If so get the numbers off the valve cover.

Not like mine. Is it a V8? If so there should be a tag on one of the valve covers. Get more photos and post.

83 Chevy SB crack repair...braze or JB Weld?

Mine is not a 3.0. After reading the comments, I decided to go out on a limb and repair all cracks with JB Weld. I watched dozens of successful stories on YT and figured I would chance it. In preparing the outside of the block for painting, I noticed another crack, so definitely the previous...

83 Chevy SB crack repair...braze or JB Weld?

After cleaning my SB I noticed a hairline crack that needs repairing. After watching lots of YT videos of folks using JB Weld and others actually welding the cracks, it seems the JB Weld holds up and is far easier. Obviously, through prep work is essential. I am curious what this boating group...

83 Chevy 350 SB valve springs w uneven heights? Is that normal?

Looking more closely I see that the spring seat on the exhaust is lower in the head than the intake. The exhaust valves measure 4.930 inches long and the intakes are 4.860 inches. Interestingly, the install height of the springs are nearly the same (1.719 inches). What puzzles me is why the...

83 Chevy 350 SB valve springs w uneven heights? Is that normal?

I am in the process of rebuilding my 83 SB 350 Chevy and noticed the heights on the existing valve springs are different between the intake and exhaust valves. I am replacing all the lifters and cam with COMP parts and tech support asked me to measure the install height from the bottom of the...

    1983 5.7L V8 Chevy rebuild

I search the forums and get negative info on these heads! Damn. Do I take the chance and use them, OR, get something better? I sure as hell don't want to put crack-prone heads on my rebuilt engine. What would you boaters do?

    1983 5.7L V8 Chevy rebuild

And another guy in same forum (Mortec) says... "No 76cc small block head is worth time or effort or running on a engine, they are quite simply the worst head chevy ever put on a small block , terrible chamber design and spark plug location. Gas guzzlers !" So I wonder if boaters had the same...

    1983 5.7L V8 Chevy rebuild

On another forum was stated... Well, there's good news and a little bad news about these heads! The Good News; Chevy used these heads from 1976 to 1987 on 350 cid engines. They were fitted with either 1.94" Intake/1.50" Exhaust, or 2.02" Intake/1.60" Exhaust Valves, all these heads had...

    1983 5.7L V8 Chevy rebuild

Splines are good. Removing the rust they are good. The coupler has an o-ring and a very small hole on the cap, I assume for venting. I really wish I did know the history, but might not have bought the boat! LOL. My friend doing the same says my rust is trivial compared to his. RUST WARS...LOL...

    1983 5.7L V8 Chevy rebuild

Casting 14010207 GM 5.7LG. what does the LG mean? So what heads would you prefer? Why are they "non-desirable"??

    1983 5.7L V8 Chevy rebuild

I am now in the process of rebuilding the engine that came out of my 1985 24 foot Beachcraft Cuddy. The first bad news is all the exterior rust on the block and nearly every part. Not easy removing the driveshaft and ball gear since corrosion in the splines made a strong weld with the coupler...
