OMC 3.0L cooling hoses not available

Now, I'm looking for fuel hose, not cooling hose and my old one says, "Shields 310 USCG Type A Hose Fuel Fill 1983". Don't think any NAPA store has a Type A or A2 one that is USCG approved.

    Selectrim-Abandon or hook back up?

For my setup, its not the solenoids that are the issue. They work fine so far. Finally got all 3 items working together! Yea! After cycling the hydraulic trim motor up and down for several cycles, the max extension of the cylinder rods is 2-1/2 on the left and 2-3/8 on the right, with the...

    Selectrim-Abandon or hook back up?

Trying also to hook up all three mechanical devices (3-wire switch, sender unit, and gauge) and test before the engine gets put back in. Looking at the wiring diagram it would seem rather straightforward, but not working so those who are better than me at wiring, please suggest how to wire. I...

    Selectrim-Abandon or hook back up?

I will be replacing all seals first, so thanks for the suggestion. When I look more closely at the wiring diagram, I am pretty sure the only function of the sender is to report the travel to the dial indication on the dash. After the seals are replaced, I shall test the working order of the...

    Selectrim-Abandon or hook back up?

UPDATE. Never found a separate manual for the SelecTrim, but the new (old) manual I just got, Part # 983441 covers my model engine, and has more info on this trim setup. Chapter 10 (21 pages) covers a lot but still doesn't tell me, for example, the max distance the piston/rod can travel upon...

1985 Beachcraft Cuddy Model 240C rehab

Scott: Not necessary. Others: This is not a "little glass boat" and the concrete I took out was likely put in by the boat builder many, many years ago. How do I know this? Well, if you look closely at the supplied photos, the area I opened up was fully enclosed with the surrounding fiberglass...

1985 Beachcraft Cuddy Model 240C rehab

No the stringers are not missing. The engine will sit on very hefty beams that you apparently didn't see in the photos. What you and others are seeing are areas that had no structural beams. I have it figured out, but thanks.

1985 Beachcraft Cuddy Model 240C rehab

Today I used a drill hammer to break up the concrete. I though about this a lot today and keep wondering who and why. Concrete in a boat?? The right side still had some relatively good plywood left underneath the fiberglass overlay. Will replace with new and cover over with poly resin.

1985 Beachcraft Cuddy Model 240C rehab

Surprise find today while opening pockets of old fiberglass in the engine compartment...looks like someone poured pea-gravel concrete into this space!! Who would do such a stupid thing?? What else am I going to find?

Yes I did but no mention of this brand and its drawbacks. Will re-read.

Picked up some resin at Lowes. Has anyone used this brand before? The label says its polyester polymer (trade secret), styrene monomer, silica.

1985 Beachcraft Cuddy Model 240C rehab

Good advice, thanks. I have been reading most of the posts on resins, glass, etc. I will try and get better photos showing better dimensional views. Wondering if just using epoxy V poly is better. Seems people have their biases. Further clarification...the rotted wood gets replaced with wood...

1985 Beachcraft Cuddy Model 240C rehab

You old farts are killing me. LOL. Of course not! You have the disadvantage of not being here looking at what I do. and looking at 2 dimensional photos. To clarify...the rotted wood has ZIP, NADA, to do with the engine mounts. The rotted wood was a piece about 2 feet by 1 foot and max 1/2 inch...

1985 Beachcraft Cuddy Model 240C rehab

Once I remove the old rotted wood, I plan to use pour foam to fill the spaces where the wood was. Looks like US Composites are the folks to buy from and using a 4 lb foam density is ideal.

1985 Beachcraft Cuddy Model 240C rehab

Today some drill testing was done. Definitely more rot in some places but not in others. The major concern for me is where the engine sits between large stringers. White shavings are fiberglass and the darker ones wood rot. Overall not too many places of extensive rot. Salvageable.

1985 Beachcraft Cuddy Model 240C rehab

Yes, thanks. Wondering if I can re-size the distances between the engine mounts so as to provide more room. The side that has the starter had a very small gap and near impossible to get a hand down and in between the mount edge and the starter motor. I assume the mounts will need to be marine...

1985 Beachcraft Cuddy Model 240C rehab

Happy to report no sign of rotting in the transom area. The wood core is quite solid, despite the surface looking suspect. I think someone needs a new crystal ball. So now that engine is out using a mobile crane, on to the restoration. Will need to mark where the old mount holes were and be...

    Selectrim-Abandon or hook back up?

Looked for it on ebay and internet and don't find it. I've ordered a newer manual that is more specific for my model number. Hope this helps with the unknowns.

    Selectrim-Abandon or hook back up?

Having something, rather that nothing is a start. The OMC manual doesn't even show the trim pump and associated trim motor mounts. So I will see if the pump motor runs, with plenty of fluid in the reservoir. Seloc says 14 fl oz is total capacity. A section in Seloc states..."Energize the pump...
