Re: 1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration The upholsterer commented that my bases will last a 100 years. I've got a feeling yours will last too. They were more work than it originally looked that's for sure.

Re: 1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration Your new support is stronger as the old one would have pulled away from the transom where it was cracked in the event of an event. At least this is new metal with a bunch of new rivets so it looks better than new to me. You could just add port...

Re: 1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration If you got a connection then that might be the way to do it. The Veada wood wouldn't be epoxied etc if that matters. At least you've got options as the shipping for me was brutal.

Re: 1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration The rebuilding in new wood isn't all that bad considering you have good templates. I'm sure my upholstery will look good considering everything in the boat that is wood is pretty much getting covered. I almost went this way before the madness...

Re: 1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration Now I can see those seats. Looks like they built up the side of the seats with wood...mine are built up with foam. It's all in how the foam is cut so you can probably lose those little strips unless you like the stiffness. I was wondering if...

Re: 1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration I epoxy coated everything and had no problem stapling into it. My first impresssion was to leave the backside uncoated but it was no issue at all. Coat a test piece and give it a whirl.

Re: 1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration I liked the Interlux VC performance epoxy on the bottom after priming with the Interlux NE2000 primer. The down side is that they are both 2 part epoxy products and will mean more work for your painter, cleaning guns, etc. Google the VC...

Re: 1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration Awesome work.. That thing is built like a tank and with all the extra transom epoxying and overdrilling and filling holes the boat will be around for a long time to come. Shoot some pics of the rub rail if you get a chance.

Re: 1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration Used my old rub rail and inserts but I think NorthBeach or Ezmobee had the link to a rub rail insert that isn't exactly the same but works. It's got more of a rounded contour. I think the reply on the insert is in my thread as well :)

Re: 1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration I used the epoxy resin from east systems. It's a knockoff of west systems but works the same and is a bit cheaper. If I was in the US I'd use the US Composites as they seem to have great prices and product. I didn't mat it as I wanted it to be...

Re: 1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration I should have done the same as well. I did the cubby holes but the bow area needs to be done. It just might get carpet :)

Re: 1979 22' Starcraft SuperSport V5 Restoration Hey. Great job on the foam removal. That stuff really sucks. Keep picking away at it. It was a surprise that that was one of the bigger pains in the butt of the whole job.

    Best brand of keel rollers

I'm looking to see what you guys think are the best brand of keel rollers. Just spend ton of time and money and don't want the rollers to bind, deform, mark the hull, etc. Looking to see what you guys have used. I have these rubber ones that have deformed over time. I think there are some...
