    Pulling flywheel 1990 3hp

Doesn't the broken part mate with the recoil starter? Any standard wheel puller should work. That surely looks older than a 1990. I have 1940's motors that aren't that corroded.

This is the second time I saw this. Don't our Moderators delete this crap?

    Keel rollers?

THAT's the correct answer. If the bunks are adjusted properly you don't need to protect the keel. Adding keel rollers is done to make launching and loading easier. Properly adjusted keel rollers should take most of the weight. Side bunks are only to keep the boat from tipping over. If your...

    Hydro sheild

OK. I have been a believer in the Doelfin ever since Mr. Doelscher invented it. It mounts on the AV plate. The Hydro Shield mounts on the skeg. I think I will try a different mounting point.

I was going to comment about mounting, but I decided to keep it to myself.

Does winter cause odd purchases ?

Eons ago when I was a youngin, Grandpa gave me his old 10HP Wizard. My buddy was the only among us with a car, so we would go up the river to a local marina and rent a 14' tinny for $5 a day. The marina was way off the beaten track so they had only a few seasonal renters. The owner wanted to...

Does winter cause odd purchases ?

I said "disassemble many parts". Like the mid deck, all the seats, bulkhead under the foredeck, the engine, floorboards, etc. I was able to do all the hull sanding in the cold garage, but outside painting waited until warm weather. That coal chute brought back memories. My Grandpa had the...

Does winter cause odd purchases ?

It's not an "odd" purchase, its just people looking for a cheap deal. What many don't understand is that cheap is usually the most expensive boat there is. In my case I was looking for classic. She was over 50 years old when I found her. Not cheap. I probably paid more that she was worth...

    Don't know what I got

That's classic an awesome boat. It's what I wanted back in the day but had to settle for a 1984 model that was quite smaller. Superficially from the picture, it looks like its not in terrible condition. I hope it has been well covered or stored indoors for all these years. If not, the cost...

    Hydro sheild

Some misinformation here. Most of the posters are referring to a hydrofoil, which can and is an awesome product. It has a bad rap due to mostly installation problems. Nevertheless, the OP asked about a Hydro Shield, which is a different animal altogether. Unless someone has actual real world...

    Big motoe + tiny transom

If you are a pro in a tournament, speed is of the essence. If the boat breaks, no problem. The sponsors pay for it all. If you are a regular guy, why do you need to go that fast when the conditions aren't good? I once had a buddy who was a bleeding white knuckle kinda guy. His boat had 2...

    Boat Trailer Tail Lights

As I said before, BTDT. In my case the fuse in the towcar was burnt. Easy peasy fix - the fuses are easy to look at and a burnt one easy to spot. Now, if you replace the fuse and it blows again, NOW you got a short in the car.

    Boat Trailer Tail Lights

A similar thing happened to me once. You either have a short somewhere, a blown fuse in the Tahoe, or the Tahoe's wiring is compromised or shorted. Check every single wire for a short to the trailer's frame. Check all the fuses in the Tahoe. Use a trouble light and check the Tahoe's trailer...

Advice needed on 12'-14' jon boat purchase.

My Dad started boating in the late 1930's. He bought an old woodie from Sears Roebuck and often recalled how he and his brother lugged the old girl on top of the car to go boating. When he came back from WWII they got a trailer. In MY youth, before I could afford a boat of my own, we would...

Might be dipping my toes back into boating

There is another reason. A friend bought a Cuddy so he could.....ahem....get out of the elements with his girlfriend. After they married and bought a house and started a family, the....ahem....the hideaway was no longer needed. Then they bought a bowrider.

Might be dipping my toes back into boating

Looking at your reply I had to look at the poster because I thought I might have written that myself. MY first recollection of life itself was at age 4 sitting next to grandpa holding the tiller of an old Wizard. I started college at age 18, which also coincided with the start of the boat...

    Trailer trouble

I guess you didn't meet me then. My first 2 boats had tilt trailers and i used them every time. Easiest way to launch. When they stopped making that design I switched to full rollers. As far as the wiring goes, the wires should go down the centerline of the trailer, i.e. through the tongue...

    Yamaha cavitation plate repair

I see, you don't have the time now, but have the time to do it over. No epoxy has the strength of aluminum or an aluminum weld.

    STAINLESS OR NOT

Love the story. THAT's what can't be quantified to justify the expense of SS. I don't remember what I paid for the SST back in the 1970's. 30+ years after I sold the boat I happened to see it along the side of the road for sale. The upholstery was trashed, the gel faded and chalked and I...
