    I have a the water/fuel separator and an inline fuel filter (to be removed tonight) and the rochester 2bbl carb has the sintered bronze element installed.

    Thanks... it seems that the only thing different is the engines behaviour in the lake vs out of the lake... with the prop spinning in the air, I can smoothly accelerate to 4k rpm (did not try more). With the prop submerged, the drive goes into gear smoothly enough, but will not accelerate above...
