Prop spinning out on a 45 Honda

SWAG: Boat is barely on plane if at all. Engine height may be too high for the engine boat combination. Prop is sucking air rather than water due to increased load.....point of least resistance. Once you determine WOT RPMs, if below the top end of the recommended RPM range, dropping pitch...

    2001 90-HP Merc dies

Disconnect the wiring harness in the engine. Install a new fuse. Turn the switch. What happens? If it holds its engine related. If not it's a boat wiring problem. I had a 2002 90 and it only had one 20 amp fuse internally. Nothing in the service manual about any 30 amp fuse. Another clue...

    Waterski prop advice

I have about 4 TP props for different applications. I don't think you can beat them for an aluminum prop. On the 35 MPH skiing speed, BTDT and when you "crash" it hurts bad enough at that speed. Wouldn't want any more pain so I limited myself to that top end.

1993 Evinrude 70hp Missing Prop, Seeking Recommendations

Back when the family and friends spent a lot of time on the water, the 3 cylinder 60 and 65 HP OMC engines were running 15P props on their family's 15' lightweight fiberglass boats with pretty much non-veed transom area for boating and water skiing. I agree that totally shooting from the hip...

90hp Merc 3cyl reaches 3000RPM but takes awhile to go over 3000RPM

Having had a 17 1/2 FT aluminum Fish Master Bass Boat with a stock Merc 90 with the 2.33 ratio and a Ballistic, 13+" by 24P Ballistic 3 blade prop. you have a picture of the performance in my Avatar kissing 50 MPH at 5700-6000 RPM, about 800' of altitude on a cool spring morning. Unless you...

    Propeller recommendation: 14.5' Alumacraft w/Mercury 50HP 2stroke

Don't worry about the little bit of overage with light loads. Stay with what you bought.

    12 ft lonestar 9.5 johnson

Sounds like time for an engine overhaul. You should be up around 120 PSI for rated performance.

    Waterski prop advice

I started water skiing as a young teen behind a 13' wooden boat with an 18 HP Evinrude with a stock prop. If you need help with a 225 HP, you indeed need some help. With that sarcasm said, you can't expect a 70 MPH Cleaver design to give you a good hole shot and provide a good pulling platform...

    12 ft lonestar 9.5 johnson

That boat and engine should approach 30 with the right prop......but a prop change won't fix your current situation.

    Changing throttle styles

Mercury/Quicksilver Commander 3000 is an in bulkhead mount, hidden cables with a single lever and no fast idle to lift like the Commander 2000 that mounts on the bulkhead with the cables exposed and a visible lever to lift for fast idle. To get fast idle with the 3000, With the lever in N, push...

90 HP mercury stalling after start up

Addressed on the other form you also posted this question. Answered it there as it appears on my boating forum index before iboats.

    Switch 10x7 4 blade prop to a 3 blade

I'm going to say that what's in front of your lower unit and the engine's depth at low speeds are areas for investigation. Disturbing oncoming water has an effect. Too high a load to be pushed and the prop being too high in pitch or too close to the surface are others. One thing that has...

Best way to gain a little speed with 40hp engine

You make the deal, install the prop, take the boat out to clean water and get the numbers.....a 5 minute operation. Go back to the dock and remove the prop....talk to the dealer about your results and your expectations......that's how you do a loaner prop test.

Where to put fuel and battery (weight distribution on RIB)

Moving forward put more of the hull in the water. Reduction was caused by added friction with the water. Different types of boats usually have different hulls to support the functional design of the boat. Example is the Bass Boat with the "Pad" hull. The hull has a pretty good "dead rise"...

Convert 14ft aluminum closed bow to open

Leave the deck be. Get rid of your transom TM and install a bow mounted one on top of it with foot control operated from that front seat. The difference in performance is night and day.....pulling a boat rather than trying to push it. Your 10 hp engine is a good match.

Spun hub or lower unit problem?

I bought a 110 HP Mercruiser decades ago in an 18' Starcraft Holiday, 1965 model as I recall, well used.....er ah abused, and under power it would break loose. After a lot of head scratching since I was new to tearing into something with which I had absolutely no experience, I disassembled the...

2013 Merc 90 EFI leaking motor oil when tilted way up

Any oil tanks of whatever kind under the cowling? On 2 strokes, that contain an oil tank under the cowl, if you fill it to the full mark and do what you said, unless you are lucky, even with a new cap and Oring gasket they will leak and make a big mess on the lower cowling in the front.

looking for service manual info for a 2006 verado fuel pump module

Wish you luck. If its not in the service manual, don't expect any luck. A lot of components of different things are private to keep the competition from copying. External dimensions and performance specs don't tell the contents or design criteria so they aren't usually a problem. I found...
