Can't find right part for 1974 Evinrude 40.

I am about to get my 1974 Evinrude 40 longshaft, model 40455-S running, but can't seem to find the right water pump repair kit for it. Iboats doesn't sell one for a an Evinrude 40 below 1981, so that is out. For motors that iboats doesn't carry the kit for, I usually get the parts from...

    Bit o' computer trouble

Friday night, I got a couple viruses while downloading music, using Limewire, which, as of Friday night, I don't use anymore. (I know, bad me:mad:). Anyway, I have been running virus scans just about 1 after the other since then, and they keep clearing them out, and it seems to be getting...

    Above deck bilge pump

I have been toying with the idea of this for a bit now. I don't want any electrics, or forms of spark below deck with my fuel tank. For this reason, my batteries are up in the bow, and my wiring chase is above decks. Now, I thought I had everything hunky dory, until I was fishing with my...

    Mercury model number

I hate being seen asking this, as it pertains to those goofy black motors. But, I am trying to help a friend ID his merc. Unlike the Johnnyrudes, I cannot find a site to ID them. I must say, the outboardbooks.com sure is an easy site to navigate compared to these mercs. Anyway, what...

    hatch locks

I am probably going to put these locks on the hatches of the boat I am currently working on. http://www.iboats.com/Marine_Works_Cam_Locks/dm/**********.590004302--*******.181327885--category_id.257630--list_time.1203369068--view_id.45228 They come in the 1 1/8 size. The hatch lids, at this...

Identifying a TD-20 by serial number.

I have just picked up a TD-20. I am aware that these were made from 1946 - 1949, but want to know the exact year. I did a search, and in a past thread, wbeaton said that y'all could ID these things with the serial. So, here it is. 674174. It was kinda rough, but I think those are the correct...

    12/24 trolling motor question.

I have a 1988 Evinrude bow mount trolling motor. 12/24, 43 pounds thrust, 3 speeds, hand control. Being a 12/24, do you have to have 24 volts to get the full 43 pounds, or can I hook it up 12v, and still get all the thrust?

    Question for Chinewalker (and others)

As you may, or may or not have read, I have recently become the owner of a 1936 OMC 4.3 horse. Now, I am having trouble identifying it. In fact, I have yet to find a picture of a motor that looks remotely similar to it. Most of the 1936 ads, are of completely different Evinrudes. Now, I know...

    Water pump impeller, or kit.....

It has come time to replace the impeller in the 4 deluxe. So, I figured we should go ahead, and get the water pump kit, to get the rest of the gaskets that may as well be replaced. Well, iboats only sells those kits for the 9.9 and larger outboards. I have read the manual, but unfortunately...

Ya'll are going to be jealous now....

Thumbing through the tools section of Craigslist, my dad saw a listing for a whole bunch of large tools, from the 40s and 50s. We run a nice shop, and many of the tools in it, are restored ones from way back when. So, he fought through the listing (no punctuation - all the items are just...

    Tiny Tach question.

I have been thinking about doing something to determine what prop size I need on my 4 horse. I found out about the tiny tach. But, everywhere I have read, they seem to mount, and stay mounted. But, is the tiny tach something that I could temporarily put on a motor, to test prop sizing, and...

    Link question

I have asked this before, but apparently I was to incompetent to do anything with the answer, so I PMed member xtraham, and he made my link for me. Now, I cannot find the original post, that showed how to make a clickable link, and name it. So, how do you make a clickable link, and give it a...

    value of MK powerdrive

I am getting ready to sell my 2003 MK powerdrive 50 pound thrust. Everything functions correctly, and it is in good condition. It has the standard 48 inch shaft, w/o US, but is the new style, that all the copilot acc. fit. What is a reasonable price to ask? I am probably gonna have to eat a...

What thrust is this Evinrude TM?

I went to look at a preview for an estate auction tomorrow, and in the garage, there was an Evinrude hand controlled, bow mount trolling motor. I am possibly thinking about getting it, as a spare, to keep in the garage. I nabbed the model number, and although I can get the info from any Evinrude...

Would you buy a motor without maximizer?

I am in the market for a new (used) trolling motor, of a more conventional style than my powerdrive. I am not crazy about the electric steer. I have found a couple people selling MK edge 40 pounds, and all terrain 40 pounds. But, neither of these have the maximizer my powerdrive had...

    year of this 25 Johnson.

Might have the opportunity to pick this up for 75 bucks. According to seller, it won't run, but the carbs have been cleaned, and it has spark. Seller thinks it has something to do with the pull start. He sent a picture, but isn't able to get the model number for a bit. Here we go! (again...

    tach question

We have the Yamaha tach that came with our alumacraft. We are about to sell the control box (as there is no motor) but are pondering keeping the tach. It has the oil pressure guage as well, but I have read somewhere that these will fit both 2 and 4 stroke yammies. Dad says that the inner...
