Do you guys find UPS a bit less reliable lately?

I've always used UPS, never had a problem before now. We've probably had a hundred items delivered to our door over the last 10 years via UPS, and the last 5 items, 2 got lost or damaged. My father ordered a very expensive part for a backhoe, we receive an empty taped-up box. It ends up taking a...

Anybody know of a good, free, automatic driver updating program?

Everything I find is junk. Anything that works? Another thread on here reminded me I needed to update all my drivers. Going to each manu's website sucks. They used to have free ones that worked good, now they're not free it seems.

In the recent passing of a much respected and knowledgeable member, Tashasdaddy, I was thinking of a way that we could consolidate our knowledge areas in case someone comes in here, is new, a little nervous about asking a question, they could PM that person with the knowledge about that subject...

Should I have to pay this bill???????

I was injured at work turning a large turbine engine for a borescope inspection. The symptoms, at the time, looked like a heart attack. (it was later diagnosed as a cartilage injury in my sternum.) I went and layed outside and my boss called the ambulance. I told them just hook me up to the EKG...

Need help with a rental agreement....

I signed a 1 year lease with this home. I asked the lady specifically what would happen if something happened and I had to terminate early and she said "Well, you wouldn't get your security deposit back." That's understood. But nowhere in the lease does it state, rent once paid, is...

Finally!! This youngster has a job!!!

I was getting worried! I haven't been able to find a job with my new airplane mechanics license. Well, low and behold, I got a job at the biggest Airbus maintenance facility in North America, only 70 miles down the road from all my family and friends working on Airbus and Boeing airliners...

Advice needed....a part vanished from a box while in shipping...

My dad ordered a few parts for his new-to-him backhoe. Well, we got the box in, sealed up in a rough manner but not unheard of for that company, and it was empty. Just packing material. This was darn near 100 dollars worth of parts. Well my father calls the company and they say the only way...

    Your views on radar detectors....

I know this might be a volatile thread and I hope it doesn't turn out to be that way. First off, I want to start out that I don't condone speeding, and heck I made a thread on some forum, maybe this one, about how I was told by someone that I can't drive (because I was going so slow...

    Question about a charging system...

My old tractor is showing no voltage increase on the battery terminals when running, but a deflection on the amp meter of 1-3 amps positive depending on engine speed. Is it possible to charge the battery with no increase in voltage? It's a big car battery on a small tractor so I was thinking...

What would you do with a buddy that does this?

I have a friend of mine, nice fellah, but when he borrows stuff, he doesn't give it back unless you specifically ask for it back. I can't tell you the number of times I've let him borrow something, usually a computer game or piece of hardware, and months later I can't find it and I remember I...

    Completely random computer freeze-ups! Help!!!

I can't figure this out! I'm usually the one helping people with their computer issues, but this has me beat. At random, my computer will completely freeze. At first the mouse pointer will stop moving, and then they keyboard stops responding a moment later. You can do nothing but hard-boot the...

    What should I do?

As some of you know, I lost my job back in Dec of 07. I used my savings to go back to school and obtain an A&P license (aircraft mechanic). I had to move back in with my parents in order to be able to afford to go back to school. Now that I'm done with school, I'm finding out that in a tight...

Tractor restoration karma, for the good!!!

Remember a while back I made a post about how pissed off I was that my dad was selling the tractor we put so much effort into restoring? Well, the guy he sold it to was getting rid of his old tractor. He said we could have it if we wanted it. We went down the hill to get it, the guy jumped on...

Hooking up an hourmeter on a tractor

Ok please don't yell at me that this isn't about a boat. I don't have anywhere else to go, no other forum that I'm a member of has an electrical section. It would be the same on a boat as a tractor anyway, I think. If the mods feel this should be in the "non boating technical topics" then feel...

    Don't let your guard down!

I am always one to preach safety. I'll wear full protective gear no matter what I do. I wear ear protection, eye protection and even a mask when I mow. That being said, I am working on an RC airplane engine. The throttle valve in the carb is stuck from being gummed up. I went to spray some...
