    Johnson 175 charging

    I got my 1981 175 put back on the boat and did a test start on the muffs. Was checking everything over and put the volt meter on the battery. 12.5 volts at idle to 2000 rpm. 12.5 with engine off. I guess its not charging. Tach is working. Where do i start testing?

    Transom wedge advice

    After my transom rebuild i am considering adding a 5* transom wedge. Before the rebuild i noticed it would not trim out to the point of blow out. The old transom had sagged back a bit so that would have effected the full out trim. I also thought this may help with the stress on the transom bolt...

    SeaCast Transom fix..

    I did the Seacast pour this evening on my ChrisCraft. Followed the instructions but ended up with about a 6 inch air pocket about 4 inches below one of the engine mount holes.     Opinions on decals

    My ChrisCraft is going to have a gold 2 inch stripe with black 1/4 in stripes down the water line. I come up with this idea for the new engine decals.Did away with the Johnson orange stripe and went gold... What do you think guys?

    I was figuring up the cost of seacast for my transom replacement.It looks like i will need 4 of the 5 gal. buckets:eek:. at 230 bucks per bucket that is a big price tag!!     Update of the rotted transom!

    From my other thread: I got the cap off and what a mess! The starboard side is hollow as far as i can stick a steal rod down in it.There is only about a half inch thickness left of the original wood.The port side still has some rotted wet wood,not that it matters now..:mad:.     Raising engine height

    From my shakedown cruise thread Studley suggested checking engine height because of my wot only being 5100 rpm.     Spark plug numbers?

    Was going to get new plugs for my 1981,175HP Johnson. My OEM service manual calls for UL77V,the plugs that are in it now are QUL77V. What is the difference?
