Yes you have to jiggle the drive up and down slightly while turning the prop. That's what I did after many tries. It worked for me. Good luck I'm sure you will get it done.
I had a similar issue, it was the riser gasket. I replaced it, the oil filter and the oil, no more milky oil. As for your power steering, that could be a different issue
I had a similar leak, it was the shift shaft seal. The boat I purchased was sitting in a driveway for many years, after I got it up and running I noticed that leak. It's posted on this website somewhere.

I just got an older Penn Senator 4/0 Conventional Reel and it's in nice condition. I noticed it doesn't have a level line, so this surely can be an issue when spooling it up. What's the best way to spool it evenly. I will be doing it by hand. Any good suggestions? Thanks
Yep, The small O ring and gasket are shot. I presume you'll be replacing them both.
Definitely glue them in place before you assemble the outdrive. I use any decent sticky glue, gasket seal or bellows adhesive.
I have the same outdrive. Merc A1G1. I'm eventually gonna have to do all my bellows...
I Installed a decent affordable Kenwood Am/Fm Stereo CD player Blue Tooth today with some nice speakers. Kenwood KDCBT35 $80 on Amazon, and some nice enclosed Boss Speakers AVA6200 $40. Not bad for $120 total. I'm going to install another 2 speakers. Ya gotta have music out there.
Thanks 👍. Yes, I want to set it for a failing charging system. Even though the hummingbirds alarms aren't too loud. They should definitely have a louder alarm, like my old low depth finderthat I used to have in the 90s. I may consider getting one if I can find an affordable one, they seem...
If you set the low voltage alarm on the fish finder at say 12 volts, and if it goes off, does that alarm mean that your main battery is low? If so that's a great option to have on your boat in case your alternator is crapping out etc. I was wondering what that setting was for on my Helix 5.
I have a Hummingbird Helix 5 G3 Chirp GPS which I love. However the low level alarm isn't loud enough for me, especially if I'm playing music. I'm sure they still sell the depth alarms seperately, I had one on my old boat, it was load enough for me.
