20' center console, I wanted a T-top, after reading other DIY versions I jumped in. 1 1/4inch conduit tube from home depot, cheap. I've mig welded up one side frame, the other side is all cut and ready for welding. I placed the frame against the console and placed a 10' plastic pipe on the...

    coring w/ urethane foam sheet?

wandering around home depot last nite, pondering how to core a molded hardtop on my T top. I looked at the 1 inch polyurethane foam insulation sheets, the ones backed with foil. is this stuff polyester proof? If so, I think this could be a great coring material, remove foil, score it and work...

    deck paint

I just reinstalled my glass liner deck, its in poor shape due to previous patching and bad repairs over the yrs , its solid but looks bad. I need a deck paint that will hold up a while. Home made DVA

I just built this DVA. Only 3 internal parts, schematics available here and other places on the web, costs less than $15 to make. Mostly ratshack components. Ratshack digi multi meter $29. I think an analog meter is better, you can watch the needle sweep rather than numbers jumping around...

    maybe new idea

I know someone with a wet transom core but the wood is in very good condition. My idea is to draw a vacuum at the bottom, drill 1/2 inch relief holes along the transom top. Suck the moisture out over a couple of days, then run acetone through it to displace remaining moisture, then finish with...

    homemade

After doing my transom I made up some homemade seacast. It uses bpo catalyst, thats the red stuff sold for bondo resin. Take unwaxed poly resin and thix it til its like mud, add the bpo in recommended amount on the tube then chop strand or chopped matt and thats it. The bpo catalyst slows the...

    seacast

I'm prepping to seacast , it would cost $600 to use , has anyone tried using a plywood core with seacast on each side. I can't think why it wouldn't work, pour the seacast in and push the ply transom down into it, maybe wet the ply with resin first, then pour more seacast over it and work the...

    splashwell cracking

circled in red, the crack is due to the transom compressing and pulling away from the splashwell. lets see if I can attach the pic, its smallish so.. Also a better pic looking straight down at the crack. My thinking is a seacast transom job ( or similar) will take care of this, besides sealing...

changed to bunk, now its too short

I got a decent EZloader for my 20' boat, the rollers looked a bit rough so I changed it to bunks , but I didn't notice that the rollers extend 16 inches past the back of the frame. I cut the bunks to terminate 3 inches past the end of the frame, problem is, when the boat is winched on, the bow...

    nuther trailer

I picked up another trailer, used but it has a beefier frame than my old one. Its an EZ loader. It seems to sit a lot higher than my old Caulkins contour trailer. The wheels seem big, I measured the tire diameter, its 29" dia. rims are 16". The bunks appear to sit 28 inches from the ground...
