    Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay! All the other pics he sent were of the engine. It looks like a Chieftain Express but I agree, it looks like the helm was moved forward.

    Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

Re: Starcraft on C-list/ebay! Sounds like the 188HP has not been started for 6 years though he turned it over by hand last week. From the picture it looks like the water jackets are cracked due to the rust lines. The interior has been nicely gutted and looks like its ready to rebuild. Does...

    New CC, take 2

Re: New CC, take 2 Here are a couple pictures of the boat and trailer. This boat is slightly narrower then the Mirro that was on it, thus putting the stringers right about on top of the trailer bunks.

    New CC, take 2

Re: New CC, take 2 Hey Jas, missed ya! No worries, I bought this one a little before we celebrated the King's rise... after the debacle with the Horrocraft. Then I spent over a month stuck waiting for battery cables to arrive so I could tilt the motor up and continue... kinda stalled out there...

1967 Mercury 50 hp buzz noise

I tried starting my'67 Mercury 50 hp this afternoon for the first time this year. Fresh gas, charged battery, and a hose etc. It cranked for about 20 seconds normally, but when I hit the choke button it stopped cranking. All that happens now is a buzz sound coming either from the lower end of...

    Outdoor wood boilers

Do any of y'all have an outdoor wood boiler? I'm considering switching from my indoor wood stove which seems to be barely keeping up to one of the large outdoor ones. Anyone have experience with them? How often do you have to stoke it? Thanks!

    New CC, take 2

Re: New CC, take 2 I mounted the engine today... chain hoist came in very handy again! One thing about the low slung trailer is that I cannot use the tongue jack unless the engine is tilted up quite a bit otherwise the skeg hits the ground.

    Outboard buying rant

Sorry for the rant guys, I'm just a bit frustrated with some outboard sellers. I've been searching craigslist and kijiji.ca for a 115HP-140HP outboard for my 18' CC Starcraft for several weeks. I found 2 very nice ones over in Ontario for reasonable prices. The first one I contacted said it was...

    New CC, take 2

Re: New CC, take 2 It sticks out about 4-5", this is it on the MC which is only slightly wider then the SC. If I put the eyes outside of the kicker bracket, the rope will get caught up on the engine. What about putting them inside of the kicker, just outside of the main engine like 64...

1978 Johnson 140 water leak question

I'm looking at buying a 1978 Johnson 140hp and the seller says there is a small water leak pictured below.ive never seen water leak from that area before, any ideas what could cause it? Supposedly the lower gear oil is fine with no water in it. Should I be concerned or avoid this engine because...

    New CC, take 2

Re: New CC, take 2 Heres what I came up with. Its made from 3/4" plywood and 2x6's so its solid enough to sit on. It fits nicely, I'm thinking I'll give this a try and if I find the weight to be an issue I can always put it under the console later. Its not much to look at yet, but I'll cover it...

    New CC, take 2

Re: New CC, take 2 I would love to splash it March first if the ice will cooperate! :D I got to trying the console out in the boat today and looking at tank location options. For the 28 gallon one I have, I have 3 options, each with positives and negatives of course! My main goal with this...

    New CC, take 2

Re: New CC, take 2 Here is a picture of the tank. Its a 28 gallon tank made by Tempo. Basically I can either put the fill cap and exit hose facing forward or aft if I put it under the console. I'm sure I wont need 28 gallons for what I'm currently planning, but its better to have more then...

    New CC, take 2

Re: New CC, take 2 Wow, the extra space in this boat compared to the Jet, a second pair of hands, and a chain hoist made this job a breeze compared to the last time! In 4 hours I've gotten the console out as well as the transom! :) On engines, the 140 sold but I've got a line on a nice 120hp...

    New CC, take 2

Alright, this time I went with a Starcraft! '72 18' Mariner whose former port was Fairbanks, IA. Hull is solid with no dings or scrapes to speak of, the deck and carpet look newer and solid, but I'll do a closer inspection at home. After driving 650 miles to look at it I glanced over it and paid...
