I used epoxy below the deck, up the sides and over the gunnels for structural repairs on my boat. I then used polyester resin on the top side (deck). Now I have to tie the two together (at the deck/side wall intersection). I know that epoxy bonds to poly and not the other way around so I poly'ed...
The instruction sheet I picked up from my resin supplier says that "applying resin below 60* may cause resin not to thoroughly cure". I applied some yesterday in 50* weather and it seemed to harden OK but is gumming up the sand disc today.
Is this a partial cure I am seeing due to the temp? If...
I filled the hull with foam blocks and some pour foam to fill voids pre sole installation because I did not want to overexpand and put stress or damage the sole and the hull. I will sand and cut the high spots now hoping to get it as close to the bottom of the sole as possible but I am sure I...
I need to paint a transome. The bottom 6 inches will be below the waterline. It is an outboard boat so the paint will have to support the motor. The boat might sit in the water 3 to 4 days at time at the longest.
I already have Easypoxy for the deck, can I get good service from it on the transome?
I decided to set this motor up to run occasionally on the stand since the boat repair is taking forever. I tried to start it and it fired right off for and instant then quit and now wont start. I do have spark thats as far as I got.
Does the remote oil tank have a pump in it that should push...
I talked to Pettit about their Easypoxy and Interlux about their Brightside one part polyurethanes and did not get reassuring feed back. Does anyone know first hand how this stuff holds up to gas and oil spills?
I repaired the damaged deck area of my boat with epoxy and want to recoat the entire deck.
What can I use to recoat over both the old gelcoat (I can tell it is poly something when I sand it) and the epoxy areas?
I need to maximize my work time when I glue the sole to the stringers on my boat. I have a lot of area to cover as this boat has three very wide stringers. I am working with Raka epoxy using slow hardener but in the current Houston heat it is too fast. Is there something out there slower than...
Can something be done to a new set of trailer springs to keep them from corroding or at least slow the corrosion down, maybe a coating of some sort. I use my boat in salt water and seem to have to replace the springs every 3 years or so.
I see pairs mounted on trim tabs. I assume they run one or the other to steer or run both to go straight. My question is, is it easier for a single troll motor to pull, or push a boat? How would maneuverability be affected if it was mounted in the rear verses the front of the boat? Kevin
Looking at a 94 Tigershark Montego. Not sure if it is 9 or 10 foot. NADA says it is worth about $800.
1. Is it?
2. Do these hold up OK in salt water?
3. Any reasons I should stay away from it?
4. Are parts available? (NADA says it is not made any longer)
5. I will look at it tonight, anything...
I answered an add on a pair of Yamaha 650 Waverunners with galvanized trailer. Both have salt and freshwater use, one can be started and one can not but both are supposed to run good. Non current tags on the trailer and skis. What is the ballpark value? I am looking to buy a pair for guests to...
I want to install a rod locker below the sole of my boat while making other repairs. I will run a drain from the valley (?channel) of the hatch cover out the side of the boat but am sure a little water will make it into the locker at times.
Most of the locker will be below the water line, is...
