    3.0 timing

That number isn't quite right. There should be a serial number plate with something like 0C856451 or 7 numerals If that's missing, then the engine code is stamped on the block by the distributor.

    3.0 timing

Do you have a serial number for that motor? If it's a newer 3.0 then points gap is .016" timing is 8 degrees BTDC at 650-700 rpm and dwell is 39-45 If it's an older 3.0 then points gap is .022" timing is 6 degrees BTDC at 650-700 rpm and dwell is 28-34. Setting the points gap will get you in...

    Trim

"You know what…I just thought about something…do I have to have the 2 senders that mount on the side of the drive installed? They're just hanging there." If you don't have the senders connected that will stop the trim up from working properly. The trailer up will not be impacted by having the...

    Battery low alarm

Try wiring the Humminbird directly to the battery if it isn't already. If that solves the problem, you have a wiring issue.

91 stingray 536 zpx tune up

If it is the points type distributor how do the points etc. differ from the auto ones? I've been using that type for 40 years. No explosions so far!

91 stingray 536 zpx tune up

For those ignition parts try a 1964 Chevy II 4 cylinder. Different motor but parts should work.

Can I install a newer outdrive?

Looks like it goes to 14 lbs so that should work fine. Here's a link from the stickies. https://forums.iboats.com/threads/drive-pressure-vacuum-check.230980/

Can You Make Up For Different Gear Ratio With a Different Pitch Prop?

With your 140 it would be difficult to find a prop small enough to work with the 1.50 drive. You should put your engine and boat info in your signature.

Can I install a newer outdrive?

As Nola Mike and Scott06 said either 1.94 or 1.98 is what you want.

    Hole shot, or up easy?

I always advance the throttle to full in about 1 second and then once I know it's about to plane I start backing it off to my cruise setting. I don't like the bow up any longer than necessary.

    Causes for concern?

I can't tell from the picture but if it is the exhaust bellows does it have to be replaced? I'm not familiar with these "newer" drives.
