I think this means water intrusion

Unfortunately I've already discarded the old oil. I just remembered, since I just got the last year, when I changed the gear lube, it was a brownish colored lube and it looked clean in the sense it was a solid brownish color. I'm wondering if the color I'm seeing now is the greenish lube mixing...

I think this means water intrusion

Did my winterization dance today  Seeing the color of the gear oil makes me think I've got a water intrusion problem. What should be the next step? Pressure test it? Just replace the seals? Or does the drive need to be pulled apart to check for any internal damage?

    How to address rusting hinge

Thanks. Is it better to remove the hinge? Is the cleaner gel coat friendly?

    How to address rusting hinge

I have a similar stainless steel engine cover hinge and a small part of it is starting to rust. How can this be addressed? Do I need to get a new hinge, or can I remove the hinge, sand/grind the rust away and do some type of paint job?

Mercruiser 4.3L TKS Won't start when warm.

Sounds like this is a possible TKS module/circuit issue. When the engine is warm, the TKS module is supposed to remain energized with the ignition off to keep the rich fuel mixture port closed off so a warm engine can start. If the module is not energized, the fuel mixture is going to be too...

    Aluminum I-beam trailer question

I have an I-beam trailer that has this channel in it where the brake lines and light wiring runs in. There is some type plug thing that is wedged in between the channel and the top of the I-beam every few feet or so to keep the stuff in place. What is this plug thing called and are they reusable?

    Normal charging voltage

All measurements using the multi-meter. I take it then you think the alt is acting up?

    Normal charging voltage

Batteries at 12.4 to start. Engine at idle right after start up....12.4 at the jumper terminals...eventually works its way to 12.8-12.9. Once at 12.9, off the alternator in to the isolator around 13.5-13.6. Rev to 800 rpms, off the alternator around 14.5 and around 13.5 at the jumper...

    Normal charging voltage

That's what I thought. The voltage at the jumper terminals is around 12.5v engine off...that's was just the one battery ON. I should check voltage on both. Any possibility the battery isolator is going bad....for all I know it's the original one...15 yrs old? I guess I should take a reading...

    Normal charging voltage

I have a 6.2 merc, dual battery. When I start up the engine, the voltage gauge starts off pretty close to the 10v mark and then then works it's way to the 13v mark (I'm thinking the gauge is not that accurate). Took a meter to it and right at start up, the meter reads low 12v like 12.1 or so...

Surge brake glide roller....almost lost one.

Full wheel service before taking the boat out first time this year. Done about 4 outings with no problems. Last weekend was the first sign of something going on. I have the EZlube/Sure-Lube set up. I coasted to stop last night so I could do a reasonable temp reading. The only reason I decided...

Surge brake glide roller....almost lost one.

I discovered this yesterday and I'm wondering how often such as issue can occur. I was out last week and had a feeling I was having a brake dragging issue as all 4 hubs were too hot to touch. Trailered out yesterday and the same thing...this time I had one of the thermal temp gun....the...

    Integrated swim platform leaking?

So it happened again...this time I was the only one at the ramp so I was able to take to the time to figure it out. Nice water fall (not a trickle) in this area (stbd side). The last two times I went out, nothing happened, the difference this time. I had the trailer further in to the water...

    Anchor locker drain

I'm a boater not a photographer 🤣🤣 I didn't even realize the angle was off.

    Anchor locker drain

With some measuring, the hole is right near the bottom of the anchor locker. It was not obvious. Shot some air in to the screw hole and a piece of gel coat in the locker blew out and then I could see day light. Took a small drill bit and drilled in...then back drilled from within the locker...

    Anchor locker drain

Trying to figure out why my locker is not draining and at the same time understand the drain path. There is one of those clam shell covers near the keel above the water line. I know this is the locker drain. I blew air up the hole and saw bubbles in the locker. I took the clam shell cover off...

    Integrated swim platform leaking?

You must be telepathic :p It wasn't tipped up that much, but checking the bellows came to mind just as I started to check for any updates to the post.

    Integrated swim platform leaking?

I believe the integrated platform is really two pieces sandwiched together with sealant in the middle...that's what it seems to look like when looking in from the engine bay. Maybe the sealant is starting to fail.

    Integrated swim platform leaking?

I installed the sonar transducer right after de-winterizing, but haven't had any issues with the last few outings. The fact that the wet storage bin in the swim deck was full and was also draining out, I think shows enough of the platform was underwater. What just dawned on me is that I had...

    Integrated swim platform leaking?

My previous boat with the extended swim deck would get partially submerged at the steeper ramps. Maybe once the bow nestles in to the roller on the winch arm, the aft end can't float up as easily. In this case, how did the water get in to the bilge.
