    longshaft motor on a short transom?

    What are the potential problems of running a 20" shaft motor, on a 16" deep transom? Can i make some sort of plate to elevate the motor a little bit more and raise it up? Would a stabiliazion plate help so i wouldn't need to elevate the motor? Thanks in advance!

    35hp johnson remote questions

    How hard it is to replace broken cables for the throttle and other cables going to the motor? I'm thinking about buying motor from a freind a guy who cut the cables to put a different remote on, but ended up not doing it, now the motor just has cut cables.     finding old alumacraft pictures

    identifying bad coils??

    I'm working on a 1975 6hp Johnson. I pulled the flywheel yesterday night, and checked the coils since i had been running on one cylinder my last time out. I didn't seem to see any problems with the coils, no cracks. One coil had burn marks on it from where the ground wire coming off of the coil...

    6hp running on one cylinder

    The other day, my 6hp stopped running on both cylinders. It wasn't a instantaneous stop, but it went back and forth between one and two cylinders, and now is just running on one. What is the most plausible cause for this? My first guess would be spark plug, then next would be re-set the points...

    What is this fluid???

    1974 6hp seahorse won't start....

    Got the motor from a guy who said he last ran it in March, then it sat until today when i tried to start it up and it won't fire. I loosened a screw on the fuel filter and flushed any stale gas out and it still won't start. Any other things i should check with a motor that has sat for a while...

    swapping carbs for more power???

    I have two 6hp Johnson SeaHorses. 1974 and 1975 models. Is it possible to swap the carb from a larger motor of similar years, such as a 8hp, 9.9hp, or 15hp, to create more power for my motor? I have heard these motors are basically the same, just different carbs. Thanks in advance!
