    50 hp evinrude won;t plane boat

    Switched motors from a 1984 50 hp evinrude to a 1973 50 hp evinrude and the boat won't plane out. The mechanic I bought this motor from said the older motor has a much larger gear case and prop so the gear ratios are different wich will cause the boat not to plane.With my 84 I had no problem at...

    Still running bad

    1973 50 HP Evinrude Top carb has no effect on how the motor runs. If I hold my hand over the throat of the carb while the motor is running there is hardly no suction and I can feel a fine mist of gas.If I do the same to the lower carb the motor will stall out. Reed valves check good and both...

    Help on carb switch

    Can I take the carb assemblys from a 1985 50 HP evinrude and install them on a 1973 50 HP Evinrude? I was told that the jets and the carb bore are smaller and the motor won't open up. The prop and the gear case are much larger on the 73 model compared to the 85 :confused:

    Engine bogs down

    I have a 73 50 Hp Johnson that does no rev up under load. When I put it in nutral the motor races.When under load I loose about 70% of power.Also I notice a lot of gas coming out the throat of the carbs when trying to start. engine starts very very hard when cold.     Suzuki DT4 water flow

    I have a Suzuki DT4 that has the water just drips out of the pee hole, The faster the motor runs the less water comes out Motor doesn;t seem to overheat and the impeller looks good. Thanks for the help.
