    Is this motor worth repairing?

    I dont have the model # or know the year of this motor yet. It is a 4 cylinder and 1 of the cylinders is dead. The lower unit needs rebuild also. But is it worth looking at or fixing it with those problems? Or do I need more info to get a good answer?

    Test Prop

    Setting Maximum Spark Advance on J50TLEOD. Service manual says to run the engine with the correct test propeller and not to use the the regular propeller or a flushing adapter for this adjustment. Is a test prop typically used when setting maximum spark advance on outboard motors?

    My remote control has a 3 pin tach connector, but the harness from the guage has a 5 pin connector. Is there an adapter to connect the 2?

    J50tleod wont idle

    1st Post-1st Boat-1st Day on the water was yesterday. 1995 50hp Johnson (on a '87 Ebbtide Dyna Trak 166 STE) won't idle. Have to use the neutral throttle lever to keep it running. Bogs and low power 1st 1/2 of throttle up..then revs high with lots of power between 1/2 and WOT. Starts everytime...
