I chatted with my local dealer and they are thinking that the water pump housing may be worn enough to cause there to be a lack of suction to prime the system. The back plate has noticeable wear on it even though the front of the housing feels smooth. Their recommendation is a new water pump for...
Just realized I’m missing parts #5 and #3. Not sure if they fell out and got lost as I removed the impeller housing or what, but I’d imagine that is why I’m not getting a good seal and the pump isn’t functioning. That sound right to you guys?
I haven’t rearranged the hoses and the cooling system functioned properly before.
I should say that the power steering work I did was due to a seized ps pump that caused the serpentine belt to stop rotating. I was on the lake and I realized it relatively soon I believe (belt wasn’t even...

New boater here. Replaced impeller as an add on as I was doing some work on the power steering system. I had the water hoses disconnected and presumably drained some/most of the cooling system as I was working over the course of a few days. Now I can’t get the raw water pump to...
Update on the repair:
I sourced the hose leak to the low pressure return line luckily. Replaced that today and noticed a leak on the actuator rod seal. I did some research and found this kit for repair...
Thanks. I have the 3.0GSPEFS engine. I just looked through all of the 1994-2000 3.0 GS engines and of course my engine is the only one without the hoses depicted on the diagram. All other GS engines in that group use the same hose part number, so I should be good to go with that replacement hose.
The VolvoPentastore.com diagram does not show the ps hoses, is there another resource I can find a part number from? I doubt the high pressure hose can be repaired, correct?
And it looks like I now have a leaking power steering hose to replace, hence the dry, seized pump. Can I replace the pressure hose with an automotive one as well?
Thanks for all the info everybody. Got the power steering pump rebuilt and everything put back together. Fired it up and as expected, the impeller is leaking because I took the gasket maker apart. Looks like I’m off to order an impeller kit and we should be good to go!
For the ps pump, I took...
Awesome, thank you. That answers one of my questions. Anybody have any insight on the impeller rebuild and the blue gasket maker stuff that’s currently on there?
Hey all. I believe I have a seized power steering pump. I noticed engine temp climbing on the lake and shut it down. I started it back up with engine compartment open and saw the belt was static. I towed back in and now I’m in the garage.
After removing the belt, the circulation pump and...
Thank you for the explanation. So I’m not wrong in thinking that the scratches and dings in my hull bottom gel coat and fiberglass could be causing some of the problems with my readings also? Would that be due to cavitation caused by the hull or another reason?
Got it, thanks for the thorough information! Speed was measured with GPS.
If there is a discrepancy when I’m testing my tachometer instrumentation, is there a sender or wiring that could be faulty or would the problem be with my tach on my dash?
I’m not sure that I’ve ever second guessed the tach, but I haven’t tested it. It reads properly at idle fwiw. Is the easiest method to use a multimeter at the wires on the back of the tachometer?
My prop slip measurements in the OP were at WOT.

I bought the boat with a beat up 14-1/4” x 23 aluminum prop and was getting about 30% prop slip. I installed a new Solas 14-1/4” x 23 aluminum prop and now I’m down to about...
Thanks for the input and suggestion - that thought did cross my mind and I just might do that for the helm fuse panel instead. Any knowledge as to the other connections on the starter?

I’m adding a house battery with a smart isolator and I am looking for some help identifying these wires and which ones to pull off of the starter and run to my house battery
The 2/0 gauge runs to the starter battery obviously. The...
