    How to measure length of trolling motor shaft

    Just how do you measure the lenght of a trolling motor shaft. From below the control box to the top of motor or some other points? I am confused. I have been advised to buy a 52" shaft but I don't know how to measure.<br />Thanks<br />jimpittman

    Prop spins in neutral

    I have a 1976 Evinrude 135. When I run the motor in the driveway with the muff on, the prop spins. I know it is in neutral because I can stop the prop. Is this common? Will this cause any gear problems?

    Is there an easy way to change lower unit oil?

    Is there an easy way to change the oil in a lower unit? Does anyone know any tricks to add oil. I tried and can't keep the tip of the bottle in the hole and squeeze at the same time.
