where find

I'm trying to help a friend find a good deal on a new 50hp 2cycle short shaft o/b.

Would appreciate leads as to where I might find such.

    boat trailer winch size

OK, Gang----time to put a new winch on my old trailer. I can't find an exact physical match for my old one. And, it's ate up so bad I can't find its original rating.

Now, I'm running a 18' center console Pro-Line, w/115hp o/b, and 20 gal fuel tank. I figure the whole kit and...

    portable fuel tank leak

My 6 gal portable o/b fuel tank leaks around the swivel fitting on top of
the tank. It seems to do this when internal pressure builds up. Even
opening the screw down vent doesn't give enough pressure relief to prevent
the oozing fuel around the swivel fitting.

Is this...

    boat hull cleaning and polishing

Got a long neglected white, fiberglass boat hull I want to get looking nice.
I don't have the physical stamina and endurance to do much in the way of
physical labor. But, I do have a good electric buffer and lots of chamois
pads.

Is there any kind of gunk I can put on...

    bondo repair question

I've got a couple of corners on my fiberglass CC boat transom that have been
smacked around during docking or something. Both corners are skinned.

I need to make a repair with compound contours. What's the best way to get
a smooth surface with bondo so it minimizes...

what throttle setting gives best fuel economy?

I've had several boats with big single and twin o/bs in the past. I remember most as having a "sweet spot", which was just down from wide open throttle (WOT). Many of you are probably familiar with a sweet spot. Cars and trucks have been known to have them. Seems like going to WOT can eke...

    will this work?

I see Auto Zone, Advance, and others have a selection of gasoline water absorbent/breakdown stuff. Some says words to the effect of "for 4 cycle use".

I know Boat US and West Marine sell some that does state it's for 2 cycle use. And, lo and behold, it's about double the price...

    o/b fuel consumption estimate

Need some estimate of a consumption figure that I probably won't exceed for sizing a fuel/water separator. I'm running a 4 cyl 115hp johnson. I'm looking at a 30gph unit, and a 60gph unit. I think the 30 would probably be adequate, but I'll probably end up with the 60 because it's only $5...

    how to remove hull stickers/numbers

I need to take the registration #s and decals off my hull for painting. I
used to get those off by using a heat gun and pulling. Worked reasonably
well.

But, it leaves stickum. How do I get the stickum off with the least outlay
of cash? Any cheap, readily available...

    trim tab on lower unit

    '77 Johnson 115hp.

How do I set the trim tab vane on the lower unit?
It's easy to physically loosen, set, and tighten. However, what I'm asking is where to set it, how to know if it's the right setting, etc. I seem to remember it's some kind of trial and error thing, but I...

What's a good, easy, inexpensive way of fastening cooler cushions down to the cooler lids so they don't fly off in the wind when running?

    fuel water separators

I've been searching for fuel-water separators. I have a 115hp engine, so figure the smaller ones in terms of flow rate will suffice.

However, I'd also like to have a bigger, see through bowl so won't have to be watching it and draining it as often.

So far, the only ones...

    what is it?

A friend told me about some kind of liquid stuff that's supposedly commonly available which is good for cleaning carbs, etc, if you think you got water in 'em, etc. I think he called it "tuneup". Whatever, I never heard of it. But, he wants me to get some and try it, because I didn get a dose...

    tach info

    I run a Johnson 115hp '77 yr.

How does the tach on this engine get it's signal? One way would be for it to have a magnet on the flywheel for the pulses. There are other ways, too.

Just curious how it's set up on this engine.
