    Can' blow through the gas hose which connects to the motor

    I replaced the bulb on the gas hose and had gas in the tank. Before connecting the bulb I tried to blow on the hose going into the tank but could not. Is there a backflow valve which prevents me for doing that or should there be no restriction?

    1977 85Hp Evinrude Set for 6 years. What to do before trying to start.

    I have a 1977 85 Hp Evinrude. I took the grand kids out about 6 years ago and have not started it since. It has set in the yard and the sun dry rotted out the gas hose and connection.
