Coupler pin lock & tow hitch receiver pin lock

Thanks for pointing that out. The two items I ordered total cost is $32.98 which is negligible for me considering how much I've already spent for my boat and trailer. I know nothing will stop a determined thief but the items may be a deterrent for a "casual" thief who just wants a new 2" ball &...

Coupler pin lock & tow hitch receiver pin lock

Do you use a coupler pin lock or a tow hitch receiver pin lock? Looking for recommendations for a: 1/4" coupler pin lock 5/8" tow hitch receiver pin lock. For the 5/8" pin lock, I'm considering this "TowWorks 79631 Keyed Unique 5/8" Trailer Hitch Lock with Extra Long 3-1/4" Span, Double...

Front wheel drive launching & retrieving

Briangcc & Scott, Thanks for your responses. From your personal experiences, would you say that there will be ZERO chance of our FWD Odyssey van sliding into the water as long as the front tires are on moss/alge free portion of the launch ramps? I see YouTube videos of tow vehicles that...

Front wheel drive launching & retrieving

Completed building my boat and assembling the new trailer. Will be launching it in the ocean for the first time in about 10 days if my trailer passes its safety check appointment. This will be the first time I've ever launched or retrieved a boat from a trailer. The boat is just a simple 12...

1/4" crown staples for bunk carpeting?

Did a test today, fastening marine carpet to a scrap piece of 2x4 using my pneumatic staple gun. Test was to adjust the depth of the narrow 1/4" wide, 3/4" leg stainless steel staples and to see what the holding power of the narrow staples would be. The holding power of one narrow staple is...

Locking outboard while boat is on the trailer

It's 55 lbs which is too heavy for me at my old age and back problems. Not worth pulling my back again and being laid up for a month or two so I'll have to chance it by locking the motor and other methods. Thanks.

Locking outboard while boat is on the trailer

I like that idea! I will cover the motor with something old and ratty along with locking the motor mount screws.

Locking outboard while boat is on the trailer

Regarding outboard motor locks that go over the screw handles for the motor mount, here's a link to a youtube video that I found where the guy just pried open the device using a screwdriver and a hammer. At 2:35 in the video. He did not have to pick the key lock or cut the device using an...

Locking outboard while boat is on the trailer

Have a 6HP Tohatsu outboard. Plan to leave the motor on the boat while the trailer is parked in our carport at home. (Carport so is not enclosed with a garage door.) Any recommendations for a good outboard motor lock that locks the two motor mount screw handles? Other ideas?

Thanks Dav. Looks like the plan is good to go.

1/4" crown staples for bunk carpeting?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm not sure what is meant by "reduce your stitch length to twice that for 1/2" staples". Does it mean that if 1/2" wide staples are placed 4" apart, then space the 1/4" wide staples 2" apart?

Good point about the pull being sideways. Thanks.

1/4" crown staples for bunk carpeting?

To end this thread, I've decided to go ahead and use my pneumatic narrow crown stapler gun to secure the carpets to the bunks. Will see what happens. Thanks.

1/4" crown staples for bunk carpeting?

Using end cutting pliers, it's quite easy to pull nails out of wood. The leverage is substantial. I have one and pull all kinds of long nails out of wood with no problem. Staples would be easy peasy. But replacing the two 2x4 bunks if needed when the carpet needs replacing would be fine...

1/4" crown staples for bunk carpeting?

My concern is not getting 1/2" width by two adjacent narrow staples. It's whether the 1/4" width has enough holding power without being pulled through the carpet over time. Just asking if folks had actual experience using 1/4" narrow staples to secure bunk carpets, that's all. Thanks.

Have you used 1/4" narrow crown staples to secure bunk carpets? Hoping to receive results from folks who have actual experience with narrow crown staples. Thanks.
