    solid transom vs. plywood.....

    Just wondered why solid transoms are replaced with plywood ones....my original on my old aluminum Starcraft is solid 1.5 inch....do I replace it with plywood glued together?...seems a solid board wood look better as it is exposed on the inside in this boat......

    Low back vs. high back folding seats...

    what are the advantages of each?....Boat is an old 15 ft tinny being restored with a lot of fishing in mind...Seats will mounted on fixed pedestals and I can't make up my mind!!!!

    Anyone ever make a splashwell out of wood?

    I have a '59 Starcraft Jet with no splashwell. (I dont think the early ones came with em). Thinking about making one out of wood to compliment other wood on the boat. Any ideas on what to use? Anything to watch out for?

    can marine vinyl seats be dyed?i

    Im looking for some white/ turquoise folding highback seats and cant find any anywhere. Could I just buy all white ones and dye the center inlay turquoise? Or buy the vinyl and sew in a turquoise inlay? Any suggestions?

    what type of exterior grade plywood do I use for transom?

    Johnson steering question..........

    I have a 1974 Johnson 50 that I pulled from an old tri-hull with single cable worm gear steering...... I am going to mount this motor on a 1959 Starcraft with the old cable/pulley steering...mounts on the Johnson are completely different....can this be done or do I have to convert to modern...

    what is the correct way to buck rivets by hand? (no air tools)

    Do you hit the head of the rivet (outside of boat) with a ball peen hammer or do you use the hammer on the "formed head" (inside of boat)...of course I know a bucking bar backs it up, just not sure which side you hit with hammer.........

    anyone know where I can find a short pedestal?

    Have an old Starcraft 15 footer with a curved plywood floor. I wanna put pedestal seats in but the seats are mounted only 7 or 8 inches above the floor and I dont want to go any higher. Anyone know where I can get short adjustable pedestals? Everything I see is 12 or 15 inches.

    polished aluminum......

    Have a 15 ft 1959 starcraft runabout and am about to strip it for repainting. The idea crossed my mind to leave part of the hull unpainted and polish it (kind of like some small airplanes were in the 1950's). Is this more trouble than its worth?
