    Should I be cautious on this engine?

    I am going to take a look at this engine, it is a 1986 evinrude 70hp. Motor has no problems EXCEPT cracked emulsion tubes (tubes that pick the gas up to the carbs) that cause the engine to run ruff, it's compression it also around 80 on all cylinders.     40hp 1975 evinrude start it without controls

    I have a 1975 40hp evinrude, is there anyway to start it without the controls? I am having a hard time finding controls for this engine but I want to start it up and see how it runs before I put any money into it, I got it for free from a friends garage, it was just sitting around. Thanks
