    starter replacement ?

    I have a couple of the 1954-1955-1956 Johnson starters (25 hp) One appears to be 6 volt (its bigger) and the other is slightly smaller. Can someone tell me if there is a new made starter that will mate up to the aluminum starter bracket ? Sierra does not seem to show one...…. Thanks---- Tim

    There is a company called "skytec" that makes lightweight aircraft starters. They weigh about 1/3 of a regular one. They have a smaller motor which runs faster and has a gear reduction on the end. Is there anything like that for outboards ? My old autolite starter must weigh 30 lbs...…. Tim

    head bolt torque ?

    I have a rd-17 - not sure if its 54 or 55- ready to put a new head gasket on it. My Sealoc manual doesn't quite go back that far- Does anyone know what the head bolt torque is supposed to be ????? Couldn't be much looking at the block..... Thanks ahead of time for any replies---- Tim
