    So if a flywheel key does it set timing then can you do this?

    drill hole half way or all the way through crankshaft and flywheel (aligning them precisely), tap holes and then screw a grade 8+ bolt to hold both parts together. No more shearing keys.. will it work? if the flywheel and crankshaft ever gets damaged beyond repair, i'm gonna try that..

    YES! Got outboard running!! Just a few more questions..

    After almost 2 weeks messing around with my 20HP johnson 70E, it turned out the flywheel key sheared.. Torqued everything down and 2 pulls and it fired up. Just 1 pull after initial start.     compression test = 70 psi.. good? bad?

    1970 johnson 20R70E. After 4-5 pulls, i got 70 psi max on each cylinder. Good? Bad? Kept pulling but wouldnt move pass 70. Wonder if this is the reason motor wont fire up.
