Fixing up a second (or 99th) hand Yamaha 2-stroke 15FMH outboard. Took the water pump housing and plate off to service the impeller and have found out first hand why flushing after salt water should never be skipped. Inside looks like someone ran it in acid.

The gaskets were well and truly welded on and took some effort to clean off, I ended up using some very very fine grit sand paper to fully clean up the surface - see pic. It’s cleaner than this now. Any...
