    Water in Gas?

How would my engine run, specifically, if I have water in the gas? Hard to start? Bad idle? etc. The only gas I can get around here is E10 and I think I may have some water issues. I am planning on putting in a water separator this weekend and hopefully that will help.

    Vacuum Leak

I am still trying to get my 93 115 running after a carb rebuild. It won't idle unless I shoot fuel in with the primer solenoid and is lean at full throttle. I assume I have a vacuum leak somewhere. I have replaced all the hoses, etc. so I am left with the gaskets. My carbs have the plastic...

    The never ending carb rebuild

I am really getting a good taste of the complexity of keeping a boat running. I opted to rebuild my carbs over the winter because the engine was starting hard and idling rough. And that is just where it started.... After rebuilding and cleaning the carbs three times, the engine still won't...

    Bad Pulse Limiter?

I am trying to diagnose and fix a lean running 93 115TLET. It is running lean and will not idle. I pulled the pulse limiter and it was not clogged or anything that I could tell. I squirted carb cleaner through it. I blew air through it and air would flow in both directions. My manual says...

Won't idle - help me confirm my hunch

I posted a while back about a E115TLET I have that I recently rebuilt the carbs on. Since I have rebuilt the carbs, the engine will not idle. When I squirt it with the primer solenoid, it revs briefly but then sputters and dies. I have rebuilt the carbs and cleaned all the jets and orifices...

    '93 115 won't idle

I cleaned the carbs in my 93 115 TLET. I also changed all the fuel lines. The engine starts but it will not idle. If I pump the solenoid, it revs up fast and runs a few seconds until the primer fuel is burned off. Then it dies. Where do I start?

Cleaned the carbs - now it runs like crap

I just cleaned the carbs on my 93 E115TLET. It was starting hard and idling badly so I figured a good cleaning was in order. I replaced all the parts - gaskets, o-rings, needle, seat, float. I removed all the jets and cleaned them with carb cleaner and compressed air. The high speed jets...

    Really stupid question

1993 115TLETS. Which is Cylinder #1? Getting ready to do L&S using Reeves method after cleaning carbs. I'm sure it is somewhere in my manual but I didn't see it. Thanks!!

    Am I missing anything?

I have a 93 115 TLET. It ran fine when I got it earlier this year but recently has begun to run like crap. It is hard to start and idles like crap. Really rough idle and will usually stall out unless I give it a little throttle. It seems to run OK at medium to high speed but I feel like I...

How not to teach your kids to behave

I guess this would qualify as a stupid human trick but I am looking at it as a lesson learned! :D So the kids weren't listening too well yesterday and after several warnings, it was decided that the day on the water was over. Much to my chagrin, I pulled up the bow anchor, got the tube back in...

    1993 115TLET hard start - spits - no power

Ran on muffs after changing water pump - ran fine. Turned it off, did a compression test - good - all 110 or so. Tried to start again later and won't start. It spits and tries but won't get going. I put it in the water today and same problem. I finally got it to fire but it would only run...

Should Water be Coming Out Here??

I just got done changing the waterpump in my new to me 1993 115TLETS. I had to use helicoils on the water pump bolts because all four of them sheared off when I tried to get them out. I don't think the waterpump had ever been changed before now because I had to break the paint seal between the...

    Tricks for reconnecting shift rod?

OK, so I changed out my water pump for the first time. Had to Helicoil the bolts since they hadn't been removed - ever - and were way stuck. Could not work them out and ended up having to drill and tap. So now that I am done with that, I am putting it all back together and have come to the...

    Driveshaft seal

While attempting to remove stuck water pump bolts, I used a blowtorch to apply heat to the bolts. It didn't work and I ended up drilling them out and using helicoils. I installed a new water pump and while doing so noticed that the driveshaft seemed a little "wobbly". I had laid the LU on its...

    Water Pump Replacement Trouble

So we're at the lake this weekend and I notice yesterday when I started the motor that the pee stream was weak and then stopped altogether. I guess it was time to change the water pump with the new one that had been in my garage for a month!! After dropping the LU I started to take off the old...

How much oil should I be using?

I have a 1993 Evinrude 115TLET with VRO. I am wondering how much oil I should be using. I tend to run 50% WOT and 50% 1/2 WOT (cruising @ 4000 rpm). I have maybe 10-15 hours total use so far. In this time, I have burned maybe half a gallon of oil from the oil tank. Is this normal? I know...

Good Times at the Lake this Weekend

Took the kids out by myself Saturday. My wife was out of town so I figured I would take advantage of the first nice weekend we have had here in NC in a while and take the kids to the lake. Apparently, everyone else thought the same thing. Some observations: I will not do the solo thing...

    Paint color for '93 Evinrude?

I am looking for a spray can of touch up paint for my 1993 Evinrude 115TLET. I bought a can of BRP #0777174 Metallic Dark Blue which said it was for 1989-1993 Evinrude motors. Unfortunately, it is a little more blue than the paint on my motor. My paint is a little more black but looks like it...

How do I improve ride quality - short of buying a new boat!!

The lake we use has a lot of traffic during the summer. It is rare to find calm water. It seems like there is always a wake coming at you from one direction or another. As long as I cross the wakes at 45-90 degrees, it isn't too bad. But if I get caught broadside by one (which seems to...
