    You mean the weight of the whole piston and connecting rod. If they are the same, I could use the whole assembly to my 87 powerhead. If not the same, what is the problem of it? Do I need additional oil holes?

    Yes, you are right! too much work for it. I have study the part list and the crankshaft are the same so using the same lower unit but as other said" recoil and other things are different. So I am focus on looking for a used 77-92 powerhead or a used out 9.9/15. Thanks all for the inputs.

    Motor is 1994 40 hp with power tilt. Compression is top (120 psi) and bottom (130 psi). I am not sure if anything wrong with the top cylinder. I just want to take the head off and inspect it.
