    Mc1 won't pump water

Any ideas why a freshly rebuilt water pump would not pump? I've put two impellers in and they keep burning up. No water flow through the transom or prop hub. Can't figure it out. Boat is hooked up to muffs with full water flow. thanks

    Engine alignment

Checked my engine alignment and I have spline marks on all sides of the bar. However, the bar is kind of hard to get on to the coupler all the way. What does that mean? Do engine mounts need adjustment? Thanks all

    Gear Ratios

So I am thinking of getting a new outdrive. My ratio is listed on the housing as 1.65R. I am looking at a new to me out drive that says it is 1.62 and has a 24/24 tooth count. How do I make sure that unit will mount up to my transom with no issues. Thanks!

Shifting in Reverse Engages Interrupt Switch

Hello again. So not sure if you remember what I've been doing lately, so quick recap. Had a leaky bearing carrier O-ring causing gear lube leak in lower unit. So after a lot of work, I changed out the bearing carrier o-ring as well as the reverse gear bearing. I got it all back togother and all...

    New bearing not smooth

Ok, so I finally go around to giving the 'cheap-o' press a go. I jacked up my boat trailer and placed the gear and bearing on wood blocks. got a seal pusher and centered it on the inner race and lowered the boat onto it slowly. I can't believe it worked!. Now I just have to try and do the same...

    New bearing not smooth

I purchased a new ball bearing for the reverse gear on my MC1 drive. The new bearing feels rough and kind of notch. The place I got it from said it was original stock. How much grease should I pack into the bearing before I mount to reverse gear and then into bearing carrier. The old bearing...

Hello Iboaters, its been a long time since I have posted here. The members here have always helped me and have gotten my boat up and running multiple times. Weekend on Lake Lanier

Fellow North GA Boaters, I am taking my first trip on Lake Lanier this weekend. We are staying at a house around two mile creek. Just wondering what to expect, as far as the water, the amount of boats and/or choppiness. I am used to Lake Allatoona, which is smaller and very choppy. I don't...

    North Georgia get-together?

Re: North Georgia get-together? I like Clark Creek South. The lanes at block house are really long. Clark Creek South aren't long, and the ramp is deep, easier to launch. Its a little closer to flamingo cove, but not all that much, so its really just wherever you wanna put in..... Any days a...

Re: North Georgia get-together? well, I went out there this weekend, and it was great! The only thing that bothers the crap out of me is all of the beer cans and garbage that people leave piled up in a fire pit on that island! Anyway, we need to get this thing together, and put some faces to...

    165 L6 Drive Belt Removal

So, I took off the block between the mount and the engine, loosened the alternator, and the belt was free! Now, how do you get it from between the pulleys and out of the mount area. All of the spaces are way too small to squeeze the belt through. below are some pictures of what I'm dealing...

    1979 165 L6 Drive Belt

When replacing the drive belt on the L6 drive, you remove the access block by the front motor mount, but do you have to worry about the motor dropping at all? Would you have to pull the drive and check the alignment after just changing the belt? Also, is it ok to use a automotive belt, or do...

    Rochester 2BBL carb rebuild Kit

Re: Rochester 2BBL carb rebuild Kit Another question. I felt pretty good about the rebuild last night, but this morning I realized that I forgot to put the small mesh screen in the float bowl, next to the accelerator pump well. Is that a important piece, and do I need to disassemble the thing...
