    JAN: have you used tha same head bolts? did you do tha 90* thing with 'em?.. if you don't use new bolts you might just torque ta 35 lbs and go with it...

    it goes thru tha front side of tha can thru an exhaust tube thats suppose ta be sealed both top and bottom.. its completely separate from exhaust... without it (like our hot rods) will sometimes completely destroy (melt) tha water pump.... tha tube also prevents tha discoloring of tha down...

    if you cut and install yourself tha length will be estimate.. it needs about 1/4" gap at both ends when installed.... these don't need ta be exact measurements...... are you getting any type of overheat alarm??? if not, i wouldn't think twice about it....

    pump tha "bulb" when it starts ta act stupid.. if that works then its bad.. next push tha key "in" (activates tha enrichner circuit) and hold for a few seconds when it acts up.. if that makes tha motor come back ta life ya have a bad fuel pump

    think you might need ta find an OEM manual and go thru it.. yours has several answers for tha problems it has.. we can all guess but without actually being able ta "reach out and touch it" but with that many concerns it is all just that, guesses... think this is tha manual ya need ta track...

    tha box he's referin' to is mounted on top of tha air box stuff. will have a red, white and black best i remember.. they terminate on a switch box.. its called an "idle stabilizer".. looks like it is there in one of your pics? it has a piece of tape on it aligned with your makeshift pointer...

    you have a 1st generation motor.. its a 2.4 175.. pre '83.. its basically a 200 block with tha vertical front half instead of tha horizontal front half used on tha 200... nowhere near a "hot rod".. but preforms just about as good as a 200.. in fact some of tha 175's would run right with a true...

    Ai has no clue about tha 1st, 2nd and 2.5 style blocks starting and stopping!!!.. it says that first gen started in '76 (true) but also says it ended in '91 (not true)..... also says only 2 generations when there are actually 3.... so much for Ai..........

    your motor IS NOT a 2.5 in any way........... can you send a pic of tha heads.. that will tell me if its gen 1 or gen 2 block.. gen 1 ended in '83.. gen 2 ended in '91... .bout tha only way to be sure of 2.4 or 2.0 is pull a head.. it should have a little circle stampe on tha upper part of tha...
