    restoring painted gel coat

As the title states, I'm trying to see if I can restore the gel coat on my Century Cardel. I'm finding that some parts are just heavily oxidized while other parts have been painted. I'm trying to sand off the paint with 400 grit but I'm wondering if I should go a little coarser to get to the...

    bonding keep to hull

Froggy1150 - you seem to have had the same stuff I did. What did you replace it with? I doubt it's polyester resin, it smelled different when I was griding it off. It also had no wax surface to it, it felt like rock.

    bonding keep to hull

Here is an update on my dilema. The wood was bedded in with some type of compound that I can't identify. It's black and sort of crystalline and rock hard. It looks like they layed a bunch down and set the wood into it. There is also a lifting ring assembly that has a small piece of angle...

    Metal floors

I believe there was a wooden planked boat made decades ago with metal ribs. I can't recall the name of it but of course, rust was an issue.

    gel coat patching

Thanks for the suggestion. I watched some of his videos some time ago, might just take your advice and contact him.

    gel coat patching

On my Century Coronado Cardel, I have some gel coat errosion in front of my rudder caused by the prop. Any suggestions on what or how to repair it? It's gotten into the glass so I'm thinking it needs to be ground to solid glass and glass added back along with some resin. However, is there a...

    bonding keep to hull

I've been a member on this forum for a long long time, just have not been very active lately. I'm starting my Century Coronado Cardel rebuild in earnest and have run across something I would like to get some opinions on. The keel, if you can call it that, where the prop strut and rudder mount...

    1971 9.8 110 driveshaft removal

Then I assume you pull the prop shaft out first?

    1971 9.8 110 driveshaft removal

Any direction on how to remove the drive shaft from the lower unit? Mine has the non-stainless shaft which of course corroded and took out the seal which then allowed the lower unit to fill with water. I need a little help to remove the shaft.

    1979 Glastron Carlson CV-23 restoration

I'm a Century guy but those Glastrons were awesome back in the day, especially the Carlsons. Please show us some pictures!

    1971 Mercury 110 9.8hp

I usually hang out in the boat repair section but I recently acquired a Mercury 110, 9.8 motor. My son picked it up for me and I have not even seen it. One thing I know I will need is a manual for it. I have looked around but have not found one on-line. Does anyone know where I might...

    PL question

I know my answer will raise some issues but I'm planning on using it between the hull and the stringers. I've heard some use it for that but make mention of the long time for it to cure, I'm not concerned with that as I'm taking a long time to do this. Since the original stringers were just...

    PL question

I've been a member for some time and am finally getting ready to start my project boat which is a Century Coronado Cardel. In reading the forums, I see many references to something called PL. With the trend to use letters instead of words lately, I'm curious what is PL? Is it a polyurethane...

    84 Cardel

I am in the process of restoring an 84 Cardel. Anyone here done stringers for one? I have found about three different stronger designs, would like to compare notes on them.

    Century Cardel owners?

I'm looking to find someone that has rebuilt a Century Cardel. While it is a Coronado, the internal structure is entirely different and I have some questions that can best be answered by someone who has "gone there, done that".

    bedding stringers

I've been doing a lot of searching and reading here and I think I know what I want to do but thought I would run it past the experts. I have a Coronado Cardel, which is the V-drive model (not the I/O) and it's in dire need of all new stringers. Most of what's left is black and crumbly except...

    hydraulic actuator

I have a Magnum Trailer which is a semi-custom trailer under my 84 Century Coronado, probably close to 5000 pounds or so. The current hydraulic actuator is an Attwood and not only needs all new internals but is also a bit bent where the actual coupler is. This unit is welded to the trailer so...

raw to closed cooling system conversion

Has anyone converted their Mercruiser raw water cooled system to a closed or fresh water system? In looking at some coolant flow diagrams, it looks like some different hoses and a heat exchager/expansion tank are all that's needed.
