I have a 1993 Marlin with a 4.3 OMC motor with a SEI outdrive.
I did the SEI conversion, and it was recommended to also change out the shift plate to a mercruiser. I wired up the switch to the negative side of the coil and a good ground, for some reason I have no spark in the neutral position...
So I went boating yesterday and everything was fine and dandy most of the time on the water towards the end of the trip the boat would be in neutral and be still moving forward at idle speed... Got it back in and it is now stuck in reverse no matter where the throttle lever goes...
I have a 1995 OMC 4.3 motor recently rebuilt and it runs great except when you go from neutral to full throttle or close.... It sound like it bogs down then slowly gets up.... Before the motor rebuild we had no issue with it getting out of the hole with 7ppl in the boat now it takes...
I have tuned the carb with a vacuum gauge after the motor was warm... Started today fine was running for about a minute and then just died started back up increased the idle to about 1000 rpm and it still died what am I doing wrong????
Im looking into getting a Holly efi... The only reason is because I had a Holly carb on the boat before the rebuild it ran ok but not great... Now I rebuilt the motor fixed issues in the motor and I can get it to run ok but now its sucking gas like nothing... 24gal in 4 hrs normally 12 gal in 4...
I just rebuilt my motor and installed got it to start and run... I started adjusting all the lifters and on one side of the motor the rpm goes up when im adjusting and then smooths out and I also can tighten the nut all the way in with rpm spike then smooths out along with some backfiring out of...
So I have be trouble shooting my motor and have come to the conclusion crank is whats making the tapping noise my assumption is the main bearing are going out... How hard is it to remove the motor??? Ill be doing all the work myself..
When i start my motor there is no tick but when it warms up for a little it starts ticking but very light if I put the hood on you cant even hear it what so ever... What could it be???
I recently took out my boat for some tubing and everyone was complaining about water getting in their eyes whats a way this can be solved??? I know getting the rope higher would but i really don't feel comfortable putting the rope on the tower...
I just spoke with my mechanic and I was told I have 2 cracked heads along with sunken valves im unsure if I should go threw with the repair thats going to cost me $600.00 or should I get replacement new heads? Thanks in advance..
this is the number I got off my boat.. 434APRJVN 1993
10235359
Just curious if it is something that I should get for my boat... Is it worth it??? I have a 17.5ft 4.3 h.o.

Re: New sound that I can't figure out ...
It was done a few days ago.. The only reason why it was done because my father figures it valves but I just want to be sure before we pour some money in them to get them done... They both relatively look like this..
Im at a stand still I can not figure out what this noise is coming from I attached a video link for anyone to look out.... The gimbal bearing was recently replaced but it didn't do this noise right away. I have the valve covers off because I was adjusting the rockers.... Any ideas what it could...
I am extremely new to gimbal bearing removal/installation... I just received the gimbal bearing along with bellows, gimbal installer and alignment tool... I have a slide hammer to remove it... Is there anyone that has a step by step instructions on how to remove and install gimbal bearing...
Just got the boat in the water and barely got back due to carb issues... I'm not that big on the holly that is in there.. Am i able to get any other carb to replace it?
I have a 93 4.3 h.o.
The carb was overflowing and we couldn't get it to work correctly... I ended up loosing almost all oil...
Just replaced a new impeller on my 4.3 omc and when I put the motor in a bin full of water it doesn't pick up water... But when I put muffs on the motor it has no issues... I called my local marine shop and he is telling me not to worry about it because there is probably water coming out where...
Re: 4.3 Rocker Arms
I seemed to have gotten the rockers on correctly I adjusted them while the motor was running which seemed a little easier than all the other ways I attempted... Now I have the motor all back together timing is right on and the motor runs smooth but now im hearing a real...
I really don't know how I could explain it.. But it sounds like a thunk it isn't very loud but it raises concern ... I don't know what to check to see if its repairable..
Just recently installed the missing parts to my motor...I did what i was told with the 3/4 turn method... The issue I have is I put the motor back together started it and now all I hear is tapping... I then took off the valve covers and lone behold I find all my rockers had backed off... What...
